Roberto Martinez discussion

No names for what? Who would have done a better job with that squad this season?

Virtually every manager in the division is the answer Dave.

You're swinging and hitting fresh air at the minute.

He's under performing David, our league results are crap. It's fact not opinion.

When virtually every manager amasses 72 points on an average net spend then I'll take them, no problem

As predicted you senselessly discounted all of them. You're right mate there's NO manager in Europe who could have us better placed than Martinez. None, zero, it's Martinez or Pulis like you said. Give the man a new contract.
You think managers of teams in or about to be in the CL will leave their posts and come to s. That's why they were rejected. The rest were just nonsense, imo.
Crikey, are you seriously suggesting there are no managers out there who could get this squad producing better results?

Is the league table something you just don't even look at?

You come across as somebody who is happy for Everton to be a lower league side and just be there to make up the numbers in the PL.

Perhaps others want a bit more from the club and team they support. Is that so bad?

Well I'm asking for managers who realistically can come to Everton and do what Martinez has done in terms of points totals (because only the 72 points he got and more will get us what they're apparent crying out for - a CL spot), to spend average net spends and secure quality young talent and nurture them to first team performers; to have us playing freely and scoring bucket loads.

You name the managers we can expect realistically to get and I'll go from there.

@davek , semi hypothetical question mate. Barca get fed up of that hoofball they're playing and want to start entertaining with football from the gods. They give Roberto a call and he's off in the summer, gone. Who would you consider a worthy replacement?
There is no vacancy, and there wont be one. Next....

amazing if true, mclaron doing an equally bad job at the geordies and hes on the verge of the sack.

Yeah, we're at the bottom of the table with 20 od points. Of course, it's exactly the same isn't it?

Everton is not a club where ex players openly call for the managers head.

Phil McNulty the BBC's chief football hasn't been exactly glowing in his praise, actually very critical.

Moshiri has been in football long enough to have amassed a circle of trusted confidants. I don't know who they are, I doubt you do. But it would is their view that could be decisive, not mine, yours, ex players or the fan base.

Non of us have a crystal ball.

Phil McNulty is a nobhead hack. Why would anyone be arsed what he thinks? He's almost less than nothing. An amoeba.

You're right, but that's not healthy is it? If this team is under performing, and I think people on both sides of this debate agree at least on that point, then the manager should be under scrutiny. If he's not, and positions in the club are not based on performances and outcomes, then that where is the motivation to change and improve going to come from.

We are very poor at defending crosses, that is a coaching issue. We do not manage the ball well when in match winning positions, that is a management issue. We do not do the nasty side of the game well (and by that I don't mean carving down players and hoofing the ball up the pitch or out of play - I mean standing up for our young players, influencing the officials or preventing opponents from influencing officials etc..) and, whilst this is predominantly an issue of our on the park personnel, this is also a management and recruitment issue.

These things need improving and, at the moment, there is no sign that Mr Martinez is addressing these issues when you examine the situation using any objective measurement. At the very least this should be something that he is challenged to improve.
How are we underperforming in any other area than home PL form? Great away record; SF of the LC, looking at a good chance of a Wembley appearance in another cup SF; scoring record number of goals?

Honest to God mate, if you'd seen some of the seasons I've seen from Everton you'd never use the word underperforming in relation to this season.
If we lose on Saturday, and then get our traditional gaping by the Gooners at home the following week, Goodison will be like a bear pit.

Most match goers have been questioning him for months anyway, if our season ends on Saturday night, then the pressure on him will mount, and will be vocalised.

To say he's 'safe as houses' despite producing a woeful league performance for the 2nd season running would be 'plucky little Everton' to a tee. I doubt our new investor will be quite so accommodating of failure, as you are.

It's a massive game for him Saturday, make no mistake.

Ha Ha. You're warning of a lynching of an Everton manager. Time to have a rethink when you reach rock bottom like that mate. It's only footy at the end of the day. Fans want to protest: stay away. Simple.

What do you think now @davek ? Patience wearing thin or just another day in football ?

Not taking the mickey by the way, seriously, a lot of people backing him are now saying its time to go robertooo.

A lot of people wanted Kendall gone. I have no regard for what 'a lot of people' think, tbh.

That's your jumping the shark post right there Dave, sorry mate all credibility you may have has gone with that absolute joke of a statement
No idea what that means. I see words but they make no sense. Can I have a translation?

*shudders*

No. I want Bobby Mk1 back. See above.

His terrific attacking play has been compromised, time and time again these last 2 seasons. Fix that, (or new boss makes him fix it) that and I am sweet.
The Bobby MKI in season one wasn't serving up as good an Everton attacking performance as this season. This seaon's play has been sensational at times. We need players at the back with bollocks to make that all worthwhile. Keep the faith.
Never in a million years, but if Pulis's record is better, you got to wonder haven't you.

Pulis and Everton should never be seen in the same sentence mate. There's no context in the world that justifies that abomination.

But @davek at some point, be it now, the end of the season, 3 seasons time, Roberto and Everton will part ways. Who out of the current crop would you deem suitable to replace him? You're demanding that people name names then refusing to put any up yourself. You've denounced lads of managers as not suitable, who would be in your eyes, or is it really only a shortlist of one?

We have a better squad than last season.
We finished 11th last season and are now 12th sliding down the table.
You can split hairs but for a 2nd season in a row its disgraceful

We were 14th through 28 games last season. We have made two deep cup runs. It may not feel like it to you but we have improved season on season.

Is it good enough at this point? No, obviously.

What he is alluding to that under Pulis a pretty averagely talented team, who suffered a long period of poor form, are currently above us.

Regardless of how talented our squad apparently is or how enthralling our football may be a times, it's not as effective at winning games as WBA.

I don't think anybody would want Pulis in but arguably he's having a more successful season than Martinez. That's concerning...
It depends on your definition of 'football'. I'd rather not win a thing for another 20 years than win something with a disgusting approach to football that he has. He's the Great Satan of football. Don't go there.

Why I said if the new boss sets him a non negotiable, 10 game target next season, then I would be sound with that. Lets see if he can fix it. Whealan gave him a security blanket, so has Bill.

Moshiri will not. I assume.
I really like Martinez and wanted him to be a success here, I really did and still do, I just don't think it's going to happen, last season was poor and we are right on course to repeat it.

aside from all the merits or complaints against RM

...whatever happened to Gerard D? was near the top of the assists stat sheet and worked terrifically with lukaku.
Are we saying Lennon (while good) is been better than our Magic?

I think Pulis is a better manager than Bobby.

At keeping a limited squad in the league, he is. Proven that.

At winning things, playing attractive football, and attracting excellent players, not so much. Proven that.

Bobby has one last chance for me, new boss dependant obvs. 10 game, non negotiable target for next season. Adapt and change, or you are toast. I think that is fair, and I am also confident that if Season One Martinez emerges, we will all be delighted.
