Roberto Martinez discussion

Wouldnt disagree. His comfort blanket is off from next season though. I hope. Give him 10 games. If he still mucks about, fine, get rid.

Again same had been said last summer. Give him till X'mas. If he was not up to it, get rid. Sounds familiar.

If the new boss decides to pump cash and let Martinez to spend it. It won't be 10 games it will be one full season.

This is the concern.

Stats do back that up. But I would be happy for a serious, 10 game target to be set by the new boss to see if he has the pragmatism to deliver what his Moyes influenced squad did in his first season.

If the new boss thinks different, then fine.
It will depend on how we finish this season mate i think.
But if we don't win the cup and finish 10th or lower he has to go for me.

Genuine question: ten games this season or ten games next season? If he's had another poor season, should he be allowed to have the summer?

That's not a statement but rather just pondering about it all. If we're still in a decline come May, then a summer of could arguably add to this?

I agree entirely with you, in the fact that if I saw Martinez from the first season re-emerging I'd be content that he could change things around.

The problem is that I can no longer see that Martinez, or at least not enough for him to provide me with evidence that we will improve under him.

My biggest fear now is not how this season will end up, yet rather who may we lose in the summer if we show no real signs of improvement.

You have totally missed my point mate. If Bill had said that, then fine, but I doubt he did. Any random target you, or anyone else sets him is utterly pointless, (sic).

If the new boss sets it, then that is different. If one is set, fine by me. If Moshiri boots him in the Summer, fine by me also.

We were 14th through 28 games last season. We have made two deep cup runs. It may not feel like it to you but we have improved season on season.

Is it good enough at this point? No, obviously.
We have improved slightly from last season but improving season on season we haven't, otherwise we would be top of the league considering we finished 5th in his first season.
Whats the point in good cup runs if you don't win them tho?

I dont think he has been under any pressure from Bill this season mate. Moshiri, I bet will not so tolerant.

Ok I get what you mean, fair enough.

It depends on the new boss.

I'm the same.

I think he needs to show clear signs of being capable of turning it around in the rest of this season though.

If he doesn't get top half then I think we have to part company.

If we win the cup or finish top 10 then he gets time at the start of the season but if he fails to have a good start, he goes.

Again though, in the grand scheme of things the only targets he has to meet are what the owner sets him - as you point out

We can't even win three games on the spin ffs, and people are on about 10 games into NEXT season?

You missed my point mate. I dont want this rubbish to continue, unchecked, anymore than you do. But we have both seen what he can do. If the new boss sets him a 10 game target to replicate that, I will have no complaints if he meets it.

Would you?

If he reverts to type. Bin.

Exactly, 3 years ago and they knew the score, just like we do now.

And in another 3 years when he's inflicting his "philosophy" on another poor club, they'll soon know it too.

I'm not sure his services will be in great demand when Everton eventually stop being stupid and get rid of him. The top clubs would clearly not go near him, and I doubt the likes of Newcastle or Sunderland would be interested in him either. He'd end up taking clubs like them down to the Championship.

No. He's had several sequences where he could've got 9 points from 9 since the last time he did it, and he's failed. Can you see where he's getting three wins on the bounce from for the rest of this season - because I can't.
