Roberto Martinez discussion

I think we have been a little unlucky so far us conceding so many goals from stupid errors that Martinez cant be blamed for but his team selections and substitutions at times have been absolutely atrocious.

I cant see things getting any better until Stones is back from injury.

I've been very supportive of Martinez since he arrived, but I am starting to lose faith now. It is quite clear that teams have figured us out, all you have to do is press us high up the pitch, stop us passing it out from the back and we'll struggle - Swansea, West Ham, Crystal Palace and Hull have all come and done this to us at home, and we've struggled every time.

It's the managers job to 1) Identify this problem (which he clearly hasn't) and 2) Work out a solution, which, again, he clearly hasn't.

I get the impression that he and the players are starting to believe their own hype as we've been very unconvincing all season.

These are my thoughts too. But even then, with the bad luck we've had this season, it wouldn't surprise me then if Lukaku or another key player got a long term injury. The injuries have crippled us this season, and Martinez has been naive in thinking that the trusted older players like Distin, Hibbert and Osman can slot in. They can't and we're paying the price unfortunately. Not entirely Martinez' fault, but he has to realise the situation and act quickly to keep us in the hunt for a Europa League place which I would still be happy with.

So, are we all wrong?

Is our manager just an average manager?
Are Lukaku, Mccarthy,Barkley, Coleman,Baines,Eto'o,Jags,Barry,Mirallas just average players?

It's a bit weird at the mo, we look bang average and can't create a thing.

Thought our goal last night was superb and sat back expecting to demolish Hull. We are actually devastating in flashes. Kev's goal against Spurs? Incredible. But then we seem to lose focus or energy. Lots of folks seem out of sorts. Maybe as Groucho suggests, folks are carrying little knocks or injuries. Barry looks crocked. Don't know if that's age or coming back from injury. And Distin is bound to be slowing down. Feel we are a real confidence team: I feel like Baines and Ross are confidence players and that's a real issue btw. Get your act together lads and just perform. And maybe I'm nuts, but I still prefer to watch us play now than under Moyes. It's the little things: players comfortable on the ball; these cool triangles and then sometimes these moves that totally open up teams. I get that there is far too much passing around the back, but I don't think that's the genius of the team.

lol

You lose faith very easily.

So, after 14 games of the season when we've been within striking distance of the top four for most of it and progressed faultlessly through Europe, you now lose faith because we're not doing what we did last season?

This is the very definition of fickle.

Things are likely to get worse at the weekend before we can think of them getting better again. But when they do (and they WILL) there's gonna be some fantastic vaulting material in the last 7/8 pages of this thread to tuck into.

Get a grip FFS. And get behind your manager.

Team isn't fully fit at all.

With a fully fit best first team we're a good side.
We were so badly prepared in pre season for a start.
But some of the players should be fresh because they have been not playing.
I know match fitness is different but we should not be far off as a whole

The thing is dave he is showing no signs that he knows what he is doing.
Since the summer its like he is a complete different person to last season.
We have had the same problems all season and nothing has changed and the worry for me is its now getting to the players.
We have the quality in the squad to be top 4 material but the tactics and team selection are taking us down the table.

John Aldridge on City laughing about us booing and seeing the abuse for Martinez on Twitter saying he told us so. The man can't help it can he. But then again, the reaction on here and he has a point for a change.
Who cares what Aldridge thinks our fans are rightly worried.
Our football is awful and the manager looks lost

This on toast.

I'm a little shocked at the comments I've been seeing.

Yes it's pretty bad at the minute, and yes City are going to utterly molest us on Saturday but this is far FAR from the worst some of us have seen it.

It's like we were spoiled by a boss season last year and people expected it to be better this. Why?!

Questions need to be asked now of course as its not going well. But we aren't the people to ask them, nor answer them. The manager is.
