Roberto Martinez discussion

So, are we all wrong?

Is our manager just an average manager?
Are Lukaku, Mccarthy,Barkley, Coleman,Baines,Eto'o,Jags,Barry,Mirallas just average players?

It's a bit weird at the mo, we look bang average and can't create a thing.

I just don't know what to think.

Have we all suddenly had a light bulb moment and realised the Emperor is wearing no clothes?

That the golden autumn of last season was a freak......that this sideways/backwards movement of the ball is the reality.

The team is increasingly resembling a Dad's Army on the pitch....we must have the highest average age team in the EPL.

Or is this just a blip on the road?

I woke up this morning with the type of Everton induced sinking in the bottom of the pit feeling in my stomach I haven't experienced in several years now......not since we chucked the semi final away against the RS.

I think the feeling of despondency is increased by the fact we are going to City next.

Sky should stick an X certificate on thus one come Saturday night.

It is going to be tough viewing if last night is owt to go by :(

This on toast.

I'm a little shocked at the comments I've been seeing.

Yes it's pretty bad at the minute, and yes City are going to utterly molest us on Saturday but this is far FAR from the worst some of us have seen it.

It's like we were spoiled by a boss season last year and people expected it to be better this. Why?!

Questions need to be asked now of course as its not going well. But we aren't the people to ask them, nor answer them. The manager is.

question is, what is different to last season?

We did over achieve last year no question but there must be a differing factor to why we are struggling this year.

Not sure why but i half expected this season to be like this after the start we had.

The thing is dave he is showing no signs that he knows what he is doing.
Since the summer its like he is a complete different person to last season.
We have had the same problems all season and nothing has changed and the worry for me is its now getting to the players.
We have the quality in the squad to be top 4 material but the tactics and team selection are taking us down the table.
Centre of defence needs gutting, IMO. I dont care about how Jagielka hasn't been as bad as the early part of the season; and Distin is just poison on and off the field now. It needs the pair of them gone. They offer next to nothing. We also need a creative player in behind Lukaku who can provide service to him.

He had a bad transfer summer and needs to spend in January to make up lost ground.

He's the same manager who got us a more points in this league than any other though. How can we even consider seriously questioning his ability after the first genuine rough patch we get?

He has this season and at least the beginning of next season to work with before I'd start calling for his head. And there's no way he'll need that much time to sort this out. He needs to be brave and cut the dead wood. Next summer Jagielka, Distin, Pienaar, Osman, all have to go - and maybe even Howard too.

I don't think we did over achieve last season, by and large our style of play caught the rest out and we capitalised really, really well.
This season, we've been below our best and the others have adapted against us.
El Bob needs to modify the strategy and the players need to work and concentrate harder.

It is not the results which are do depressing.

Heck, we have all seen worse results than these in our time....even the youngest supporter on here.

It isn't even the lacklustre, error prone performances.

I think it is we have had our faith in Bobby shaken.

It is one thing being outfoxed by Jose or Arsene or even Van Gaal.

But when boys like Warnock, Monk and now Bruce bring their teams to Goodison and tie us up in knots then the alarm bells start to ring.

Bobby just looks clueless.....he was like a rabbit caught in the stoat's glare last night.

We were lucky to take a point in the end, so comprehensively were we outthought, outfought and outplayed.

This is my one major concern and Martinez needs to be absolutely ruthless dealing with it. Giving Osman a new contract doesn't fill me with hope he can do it, but he needs to wield the axe and call time on some over the hill careers at Goodison.

My Martinez mask is ruined now.

Basically, it is ruined and all soggy from blood and jizz, from the incredible highs and lows I get when I come on here and read the elation and desperation from week to week.

Last night I cut my wrists and dribbled the blood over his eyes as an act of defiance, which completely covered up the jizz stains I belted out on there after we won in Wolfsburg.

Your right about the defence mate and add howard to that.
To be fair it needed sorting in the summer like you have alluded to.
Last season was superb I can't get my head round what has happened since.
He has had more money to spend than any manager in one window and we have gone backwards.
He really looks lost to me and so do the players.
He was a breath of fresh air last season and the players seemed to love him but how can that crash so quickly.
To me he needs some of moysies steel and show the players he is the boss and he has got to identify why its going so pear shaped.

Very eloquently put !!

Look at the EL form. It's been professional from beginning to last.

I've said it for just on a couple of months now: we are expending a lot of form and energy on that tournament when we really needed to dose our effort across that and the PL games.

Learning curve for Martinez, dont forget.

Give the feller some slack to get the balance right for the future and the time to cut out the wasters from this squad.

He's earned the right.
