Roberto Martinez discussion

Win all of our home games from now until the end of the season.

Top 8 or FA Cup.

If he does that, then IMO he gets time at the start of the next season. But he has to be set a marker (say 'so many points by 10 games') and if not he goes, and it's early enough in the season for the replacement to come in.

If he fails to achieve top 8/FA Cup, then he should be gone in May, IMO.

@Kiwi

I said awhile ago that he got the rest of this season, and the first few months of next season, if nothing changes, then well.................

Top 7 means you get Europa place. 8th gets you nothing.

Yep, though for me I do think there has to be clear improvement now and some end result this season for him to get the time and investment come summer.

If not then he has to be replaced swiftly in May.

If he manages to show the improvement and end result, he gets time to prove he can be the man to take this system (which fundamentally has and will improve us as a club in the long run) to the next level.

Granted.

But 8th would be a respectable and acceptable finish from where we are now, and matches one of Moyes' seasons where we were poor but showed good flashes in 08/09.

I'd like Europa, but won't be devastated if we don't get it.

But mate, surely you are at least slightly uncomfortable with the win ratio that R Martinez has bought to Everton (not to mention Wigan). I remain a little confused as to how a normally rational person like you, continues to flog a dead horse. R Martinez is in charge of a hugely talented team...and we're currently 12th. We have won 4 games at home all season. His selections are all over the shop as are his substitutions. He is tactically naïve yet too stubborn and arrogant to concede anything other than the "I thought we were incredible and deserved the 3 points" BS he trots out after nearly every game.
I was pleased when Martinez got the job as he looked and sounded like a breath of fresh air. But incontrovertible facts have doused such hopeful optimism.
In the summer we need to get rid, or next season will be deja vu all over again...

You keep referring to Martinez' record at Wigan.

Martinez had to cut his budget at Wigan by 25%, just as other clubs were spending vast amounts more.

The surprise was that he kept them up for so long. He didn't have the resources to compete in two competitions, but he did succeed in one.

For me 7th or win the FA Cup then he gets a full season to prove again.

A few have said if he's still here next season he shouldn't get any money to spend, that's just stupid though, he should be backed with all the money we can spare.
