Roberto Martinez discussion

See this is what p***** me off, just bite the bullet and say Yes we have a problem, i'm going to rectify what's wrong and make sure it doesn't happen again. Surely he can't be that stubborn or delusional to think they were JUST mistakes and that we have no problem with crosses.

It's not like they bombarded the box. They had two crosses and scored two goals, that's bad defending rather than having a (specific) weakness.

Sounds like they knew exactly what to do there roberto.

We're not seeing opponents beating us easily, it's the opposite,” said the Blues boss

Still beating us though!

We've grown as a team, we've shown we can score goals and defend really really well, but then we go into periods where we can't really defend and we get hurt too easy and concede goals that affect scorelines with extreme ease.

Yet we do nothing to fix that after 2 years!

For the first 78 minutes we were defending extremely well. We scored 14 goals and conceded only two in the previous six games, and in anyone's eyes that a well-balanced team and s good defensive display.

Considering two of the team we beat in the last 6 are getting relegated, and one is a league 2 team? and we lost 2 of those games!

Oh and tthat forgetting the three we just conceded, and the one against west brom, one against aston villa..... thats 4 Roberto.

“On Saturday, to be so good for 78 minutes, half of which was with 10 men, and then concede three goals in 12 minutes, it makes no sense.

Well if we weren't prone to , you know going into periods where we cant really defend then perhaps it woul make sense?

Beggers belief! this is who is managing our football club! Makes no difference the opposition manager or players identify weaknesses and then go ahead and BLOODY BEAT US WITH THEM, they don't exist according to the boss, which means he isn't actually considering a weakness in the team.

He's exactly that stubborn and delusional unfortunately, and don't call me Shirley.

He isn't saying in the whole game, and he is mitigating against the turn of form defensively - 2 goals conceded in 6 games. In each of those games we've defended crosses.

You need to use the quotes together to get his point, rather than dissecting it line from line

WBA scored from a corner and Villa scored from a cross. So in those 6 games - which were against very poor opposition - the two goals he highlights are both from crosses. And he's somehow saying we're not weak there?

Martinez will destroy Klopp. Think we will smash them all over the shop and then finally start the wheels in motion to push up the league.

You new to Everton mate?

Even if we did win at Anfield, pushing up the league requires winning more than two in a row. Something we are yet to show we can do this season?

Mate, if we win our game in hand we sit in 9th.

id have been fine with 8th at the start of the season. We would be 2pts of 8th and 3 off 4th.

Yes we would still need to win that game of course but it shows the fine lines of success and failure e.g we'd be there anyway if we had won last weekend....OR howard hadnt been playing etc etc

if youre saying you would be happy with 8th now then whats the drama?

8th for me is a fair season based on the old guard now being moved on...young players in the squad gaining experience...injuries to key players (not seeing mccarthy/besic together) and having a small squad in terms of quality but a large squad overall...

8th this season and a push at top 4 next....as far as i can tell weve almost achieved my own target this season.

All sounds nice, but you do realise that you can forget about winning our game in hand when doing those calculations - our game in hand is at Anfield mate - not a prayer we are gonna win that like
