Roberto Martinez discussion

Wouldn't have changed a thing...not pressuring crosses and not tracking Payet were our undoing...along with the fact that we are terrible at defending in the air.
You should stick to complaining about the fans mate, your tactical nous leaves a bit to be desired.

Can you think of anyone who might have helped us to pressure crosses? A winger maybe? A quick one with a good work rate ideally. Maybe we'd have been better at defending the crosses if our central midfielders had been able to drop into the box instead of being drawn out to the man with the ball, like we'd been doing all game, until we changed the shape. Did they not point out to you on the TV or were you too busy listening to the booing?

Everton have dropped 14 points from winning positions this season and a failure to close out games under Martinez has become a big frustration among the club’s players. This is not a new trend, as the club last season dropped a league-high 19 points after going ahead in games.

Gross to think that would put us at 52 points.

52.

3rd overall.
1 game back of Spurs.
...

We’re not talking about an apprentice here. We’re talking about someone who is virtually at the pinnacle of his profession. It’s a job all but 10-15 people in football would want. In any business if the guy at the top isn’t performing then he’s gone, it’s that simple. In fact even in football, many managers have been sacked with better records.

I wouldn't even say it is that high a figure, Ralph.

Maybe half a dozen.....ten tops.

Outside of a very small coterie of top managers I see us as being a very attractive proposition for any manager now.

If Chelsea appoint someone else, I am sure even Hiddink would consider an approach.

He was out of gas and wouldn't have changed a thing.

On your point about the atmosphere...it is crap. Took a red card to get them behind the team. Hate it.

No one can say what the result would have been if Lennon had stayed on the pitch. What we do know is that Bobby did not give us the best opportunity to win by making a completely inexplicable substitution. You could just about make an argument for replacing Lennon with someone like Del to give us an out let but there is no argument for putting on a guy who is clearly way of the pace and has struggled to even get a touch in any of the games he has played in. No other manager in the league would have made that decision. It is up there with Pearce playing David James up front.

But Hiddink would need a special clause to be allowed go and give Chelsea a dig out every 2 years?

We are a Pl Club in the top 20 richest clubs in the world in the richest (soon to be massively richer) league in the world with a billionaire owner. Those suggesting we can't do better than Martinez are using the same scaremongering tactics as "there's no billionaires out there wanting to buy us best staying with blue bill" then along came Moshiri.

He played in one game prior to that one...clearly way off the pace? You can judge that in 20 odd minutes?

To those advocating Martinez as the right man for the job, what would it take (if indeed, anything...) for you to change your mind? When would enough be enough?

I am no longer in the "in" camp but if I was.........

We finish this season with a whimper and I see him pop up all over the place doing punditry at the Euros would seal it for me.

More to the point he's not started a game for nearly 3 months, and he chucked him on like a 16 year old desperate to give his new signing a run out on FIFA, when what we needed to do was go solid for the last 15 with a 4-4-1, and instead he brings on another striker who's not match sharp and only had a few minutes of PL football under his belt.

It was a donkey substitution.
