Roberto Martinez discussion

It depends on the manner of defeat.

If, irony of ironies, we are 3-0 down at half time and then continue to get humped in the second half I think the board will act.

Lose in a close game and he'll get the rest of the season.
I was quoted earlier that we have to fully support the manager and team for that is a vital game for our club - were not going to simply flog the manager at the first sign of trouble. Get behind your football club!!!

Said he took Lennon off because his hamstrings were tired and they have to monitor him for the game against Chelsea.

No, not at all. I want him gone at the end of the season, with the club doing their level best to get the best man that's available for the job in the interim.

All I was saying was that the club is likely to have it's biggest ever budget this summer - especially given the seemingly inevitable exits of Stones and Lukaku. We need it to be spent with a clear plan of the future in mind. If there's any question marks over Martinez then they ought to can him and let the new man build the team with the cash. As opposed to letting him spend it and then seeing no improvement in performance early next season and getting rid in the Winter, that'd be stupid.

You do know I was joking right ? I got the feeling right away you wanted him gone :D although I do agree with you, if he stays then back him as its the right thing to do, no point keeping him and showing no backing at all. I do prefer to get rid at the end of a season and start fresh, the Euro's may have come at a bad time though, players away on international duty, although I would expect managers there to look at players.

I reckon he is gone this weekend unless we have a convincing win. If we lose in a similar fashion to all the other home losses then I think its p45 time. Dont think Moshiri will hang around, its a shame as I really wanted it to work out but our inability to close a game down is his downfall

Football club - all day every day

Failing manager who doesn't take responsibility for his bungling - nah you are alright thanks.

First sign of trouble? Are you the Demolition Man recently released from cryostasis or something? We've been absolute mince for 18 months

To be honest, I wouldn't be too concerned that he would waste much money in the market.

His buys have been very good in the main.

He just ain't getting the best out of them.

I would say a manager coming in after the transfer window will have a very good squad to work with.

Agreed, my point in a number of posts has been a new man coming in at the end of this season as opposed to waiting until for example October, possibly gives us more chance of keeping Lukaku. The new guy gets the money to spend, and a pre season with those in the current squad he wants + any new buys!
Others will know better than me but how many decent managers of the calibre we could now be looking at are likely to be available in October, my guess is not many?

He was out of gas and wouldn't have changed a thing.

On your point about the atmosphere...it is crap. Took a red card to get them behind the team. Hate it.
Sorry....but about the atmosphere....Errr i was there and it was ok as far as I heard straight from the off - we were optmistic about the new owner etc; which part of the ground were you in ?

It was a morgue until the red card.

My couch...in America. Makes no difference that the atmosphere is crap where I watch the game from. It's like the match goers are in denial about how bad the home support is. The away support is always top notch.

But somehow Aaron Lennon would have stopped those goals. SMFH

Of course he would. He would have blocked Noble's cross on our right, then he would have got over to our left back side to block that cross along with Barkley and Oviedo and then for good measure he would have stopped the cross coming in from their left back position, even though we are told he played on the left wing.

After the break we set up with 4 at the back, Besic on the right McCarthy in the middle and Barkley on the left of a midfield 3 Lennon was supporting Lukaku and this led to a goal when he cut in from the left having gone over to that side to get the ball when we were on the attack.

Barkley playing deeper allowed him to get the ball and set up Lukaku. We were forced to change shape because Mirallas was sent off and we were reduced to 10 men. If Mirallas hadn't of got himself sent off then maybe it would have blocked the cross for the third goal as he wouldn't have been subbed. But would Mirallas have blocked the cross with Oviedo for their second goal. No. As he didn't against Villa.

Same fans though.
Its easy to judge mate stuck on your couch in america.
I feel for the fans they have witnessed 4 home wins in nearly 9 months and thats disgraceful no wonder they are nervous

I would rather wait until the end of the season and bring in a top manager right away. A top manager and a transfer budget gives us hope of hanging unto our players. Unless you sack Martinez and put Big Dunc in as caretaker. I think he would instill a bit more commitment.
