Roberto Martinez discussion

So why did we lose to West ham?

Taking Lennon off
Rom missing the pen (not for me and I don't like the way Martinez used this either)
Can't defend long balls
10 men and we were tired
Bringing naisse on.

Not hold onto a lead by bringing defensive subs on. Do not get everything behind the ball to defend.

Sorry mate but I will criticize them...it's embarrassing. I would NEVER 'support' the team the way some of our 'supporters' do.

You have absolutely no right to criticise match going fans who hand over their hard earned every week to sit there and watch some of the bilge that we've been subjected to over the years.

This season has seen some decent football but crap results, there's a sense of foreboding in the crowd that's been fostered by the many capitulations we've witnessed this year.

Giving it the biggun about what you would supposedly do if sat in their seat, despite being on your couch in the US, is taking the piss.

Can't defend fullstop
Rolled over like girls
No fight from the players
Baghdad bob on the sidelines lost
No game management

"About level?" Wow.

I understand it can be difficult to let go of the dream we all felt Martinez was unwrapping in his first season. By now though I honestly don't see why some people still insist on desperately looking for ways to convince themselves that he's 'almost' getting it right. Give yourselves a break lads. Continuing to believe in this overactive underachiever will only ever end in tears.

I'm not hanging onto a dream.

Read any of my other posts.

What I've done is presented the clear and positives and clear negatives.

And just because you - or anybody else - goes to the match doesn't make your opinion matter any more than anyone elses.

I don't agree with saying the fans are to blame at the moment because the atmosphere in the last few games has been a lot better than it was a month or so ago. RM hasn't pinned any responsibility on the fans though so I'm not sure why anyone has brought it up?

I know it's an unpopular thing to do, but I will continue to criticize them...the home support is terrible and not at all helpful.

The fact that it took a red card for them to get behind the team says it all.

Ever thought for a moment why the home fans are edgy? Nothing to do with the manner of capitulations they have to keep witnessing or the crap tactics and bizarre substitutions.

The home fans are not crap, they are just on edge waiting for the inevitable mistake that ultimately always happens. There is no denying it any more the table doesn't lie and neither do the facts.

The players are edgy as well because of the gung-ho tactics, the pattern here if you missed it is the Manager. The fans will get behind the team at the first opportunity;Blaming the fans, get in the bin.

Opinion of the match? No. Opinion of the crowd? Yes.

Nobody should be criticising the supporters who give up time and money to go to games unless they're willing to do it themselves. Particularly when it appears that they do not even understand the basic principles of english football support with regard to the difference between support at home and away games, or the fact that the very same people make up the crowds at home and away games.

Nah it was this wasn't it

Lennons fitness was not good enough to last 75 minutes - so he had to be subbed - blame Lennon for that
Lukaku deflated the team by missing a penalty
Lukaku further deflated the team by missing a 1 on 1
The referee didn't understand the game by booking Mirallas for a blatant dive and not considering that he would lunge two footed 10 minutes later - bad ref like making Mirallas dive in
The referee didn't blow the whistle on 75 minutes at which point we would have won and said we had defended well, where the hell did he find those extra 15 minutes from the blatant cheat
The ref allowed them to cross the ball after we decided to not put any players wide the last 15 minutes - yet again blatant cheating - should have booked any of their players who tried to put a cross in from that point
The crowd made the players nervous when we missed the penalty - it took ten minutes for this to pass onto the players performance though which coincided totally by fluke with the substitution and in no way was related to it.
West Ham didn't realsie that when we put on a second sub it was because we had won the game - at which point they should have given up and not realised we had given them a route back into the game - bad sportmanship from Bilic there

Sorry....but about the atmosphere....Errr i was there and it was ok as far as I heard straight from the off - we were optmistic about the new owner etc; which part of the ground were you in ?

The West Ham fans were chanting, Is this a library?

Though our fans didn't go as far as a chant of The School of Science, it has been much worse.

I never said it did....on football in general.

However, someone who's not a match goer taking a pop at match goers and spouting about how they would supposedly act as a superfan compared to those who actually pay in, despite having no perspective of the mindset of those who have, as they've not worn their shoes, is having a laugh.
