Roberto Martinez discussion

I know it's an unpopular thing to do, but I will continue to criticize them...the home support is terrible and not at all helpful.

The fact that it took a red card for them to get behind the team says it all.

I think the home support is brilliant, 20 years without a trophy and hardly a protest against any manager or player despite a load of dross passing through. Find me one set of fans that senselessly back absolute tosh like you are asking ours to do. At any club we would consider as historical or current peers Martinez would have been hounded out already. Everton is the only club he could have got away with pulling what he has and for there still to even be a debate about his position amongst the fan base. It also doesn't help when he openly blames the fans for his own failings. Yet after all this the fans will still be behind the team on Saturday, that is until they pull some stupid amateurish Sunday league defensive stunt. It's s two way street and in this instance Martinez and the team owe the fans far more than the other way round. You couldn't find a less entitled, more forgiving, group of fans in the league if you tried. Sadly most are at the end of their tether, only one person to blame for that.

I never said it did....on football in general.

However, someone who's not a match goer taking a pop at match goers and spouting about how they would supposedly act as a superfan compared to those who actually pay in, despite having no perspective of the mindset of those who have, as they've not worn their shoes, is having a laugh.

Sorry that I don't own a private jet to fly over from California to go the game.

Not on about players. Poor management has just been a discussion between ourselves up to now.
The fact the media are now picking up on it as well usually means that there is actually something wrong.

Most of the time when this happens the manager usually goes. Not all the time as in rare cases they do ride it out. Can't see this being the case with Bobby.

What does Paul Merson say?

Opinion of the match? No. Opinion of the crowd? Yes.

Nobody should be criticising the supporters who give up time and money to go to games unless they're willing to do it themselves. Particularly when it appears that they do not even understand the basic principles of english football support with regard to the difference between support at home and away games, or the fact that the very same people make up the crowds at home and away games.

I agree no they shouldn't which is why I said I'm not sure why it was brought up.

I had a season ticket last season and get to as many games as I can. The atmosphere at times has been poor and that is down to a lot of factors. Some of which the manager is responsible for and some things, like the Stones incident and a lot of the negativity towards Barkley and Rom last year, down to frustration with the players that hasn't really helped.

The atmosphere has seemed a lot better in the last few games though. I'm not blaming anybody for the W.Ham result other than Martinez for that sub and the players for capitulating... again
