Roberto Martinez documentary

I like him, his positivity can be overbearing at times.

It's not like he "must" win something at Belgium to be considered a success, they are not Brazil or even England for that matter.

I would be surprised if they came near winning Euro 2020 with aging players and those like Denayer and Boyata in the side, they have peaked.

If he demonstrates he can evolve and learn from past mistakes, there is a decent club job in a decent league waiting for him somewhere.

I hope he does well. He represented us with dignity and respect.

After all, he gave us the best season we've had since 1995. Just a shame things went south in the manner they did.

Not at least playing in a final with this Belgium team would be a failure. You're right they aren't England, they're better.

Roberto won the cup with a team that cost £13M against a team assembled for half a billion.

He would have been 5 down in that game by half time if Aguero had put his boots on that morning. Managerial brilliance didn’t win that cup. He lucked out in the final, 99/100 Wigan get punted all over the shop in that game.

If he won The Euros I wouldnt even be impressed, I reckon you or Zat could win The Euros with this Belgium team.
While I agree with the sentiment unfortunately you do have to give the manager some credit. I wouldn't hire him to manage a club still.

Say what you want about his final season here, but 4 losses in 59 games in charge of Belgium is pretty impressive - don't care how good their team is that's a decent record.

I actually don't think i'd be against him coming back either, but I don't know if that's because I've watched Eddie Howe, David Moyes, Espirito Santo and FSW all be heavily linked to the vacant job in the past weeks.

Goes to look at the results in every season to try and make an argument by picking out individual wins. I looked at one result of Ferguson's and decided he is a terrible manager.

The truth of the matter is that Martinez is not a bad coach but he is a terrible pupil. He never learned from his mistakes and that is why we had 2 awful seasons after the good one. It is not hard to see that we were solid at the back in his first year because of the players still being in the Moyes mindset.

Martinez basically did what Wenger did at Arsenal, was not prepared to mess with a very strong element of the team but focus on improving the attacking areas, the big difference being Wenger during those earlier years learnt how to continue that strong defence rather than change it all after one season.

Even Moyes said that team needed a clear out. They had way too many older players. Then Roberto had to teach them how to play football to feet.

It was miraculous to get elite levels of points in the PL era for this club. We'll be waiting a long time for a repeat.
He bought ex wigan players to help us play to feet...that went well Dave.
He had a good season with us,without doubt, one season.
On the back of a well drilled Moyes defence.
Once that was forgotten it was tatties....
