to win the league in modern day football you need to do a chelski/citeh ala ruthless spending and a manager that pressures refs to get the key decisions to be top dog, something we would never do

Yes, we need more investment, but City and Chelsea didn't win the league this season, Utd won the league by spending big money wisely.

i don't think rodgers is that mouthy tbh. he's just a bit stupid, even when he's pissed off he doesn't say it angrily, he's still pretty calm about it. I'd like a manager who tells it how it is though when we keep getting ****ty goals given against us like the derby. Not this moyes crap of nothing we can do. it's not a coincidence that fergie was the loudest and most fearful and yet united got favourable decisions during his tenure

He's not aggressive but needs putting down for the sake of us all:

“It is great for the public here at Sunderland to see us,” said manager Brendan Rodgers. “They must have been wondering what this team everyone is talking about are all about and now they have seen. We were wonderful.

“Our intention is always to pass teams to a standstill, but give credit to Sunderland, they defended ever so well when other teams might have wilted.

Swansea lost 2-0

That has to be the single most stupid thing I have heard come out of a managers mouth.

and by having a manager that hounds officials which became so infamous brought upon the term "fergie time"

honest guys finish last in modern day football mate sad but true

He might not be supported by scoring records, but Kone is certainly a very good defensive forward. A good upgrade on Anichebe.
Disagree I don't think he's much better if it all. Certainly wouldn't be spending the reported 6.5 million to sign him at his age. That money could be much better spent.

I've been one of those dead against Martinez simply because his record for Wigan just doesn't stack up. It can't be defended, it's pi$$ poor.

But it looks as though he's our new manager so i'm desperately trying to look for things to cheer me up and find a positive or two.

His record at Swansea wasn't too shabby was it? Maybe, just maybe Martinez and Wigan just wasn't a good fit? It happens sometimes. Managers can have poor records at some clubs and good records at others.

He's also 39 years old. That gives me hope. He's still a very young manager who is still learning his trade so hopefully he'll improve his defensive weaknesses.

I'm just praying that Roberto Martinez and Everton prove to be a very good fit.

It would be difficult to fail defensively with Baines, Coleman, Jagielka and Distin, to be honest.
