He may have taken wigan down, but we have a much stronger defence than wigan ever had, hopefully alan stubbs will be promoted to sort the defensive side out and let martinez sort jelavic out, then use duffy, stones, barkley, oviedo, kennedy, macleny and vellios as proper squad players.Redknapp took southampton, portsmouth and qpr down and he did great at spurs. So with the mighty toffees already playing mighty football at times maybe martinez won't need to alter much, just get jelavic scoring more would be a great plus.We may soon find out.

Will you play the reported price of £10m-15m for him?

Vastly overpriced just because he is British.

There's no way they'll get that much for either of them. They've just went down and neither of them are as hyped as a Zaha or an Oxlade-Chamberlain.

mcmanaman and mccarthy are 21 , cant think of 2 21 year old players in our squad with so much prem experience.
would i have mccarthy over hitzelberger ? yes
would i have mcmanaman over magaye ? yes again

How many prem games has mcmanaman played, though? 5 or 6 isn't it?

Rodwell got more than a hundred.

Yeah he only started 8 league games there. Ross started 4 here, and is younger.

I think the general consensus is that he's not the worst option. In fact he's one of the better names given some of the aforementioned jokers (Lennon, O'neil, blah blah). However it was the easy option when we perhaps could have went out to get a top manager from a European club. Like someone said before, it feels more of an opportunity missed.

I suppose though, you have to think about how much it will cost to bring these managers away from their current clubs. That and the fact that we cannot offer European football and/or a bottomless pit of transfer money means that this appointment was always going to be realistic

Adrien from spoting lisbon.

Think Stocker would be better for us than Callum, Josh Gatt also from Molde.

Moreno Constanzo from young boys is a good player, who would be cheaper than Mccarthy by a lot.

All good talents, not sure if we could compete with bigger clubs for them though.

I hope we start playing Kev upfront next year, possibly play 4-3-3 under Martinez with Pienarr playing LW and we buy a decent RW in the summer.

I think he will probably/hopefully play 4-3-3. Looking back over the years tho he tends to like moyes play a hold up striker as apposed to a small skillfull guy up top. We need to sign a striker and winger to play 4-3-3 personally. He may just stick with moyes 4-2-3-1 and adapt the style a little.

Thoroughly underwhelmed.

not the worst appointment but a manager that's just been relegated and whose highest finish is 15th screams lack of ambition.
He's a young manager, moving from a club who's only ambition was to stay in the league, he's never had a squad capable of finishing in the top half of the league. Yes, it may be a bit of a gamble but I'm sure he'll be more than aware of the expectation and tradition of this club. I'm also sure he'll get plenty of help in certain departments where he needs to improve, he appears to be an ambitious man. Everton have a rich history of giving young managers a chance. I had money on Piriera but I'll be 100% behind Martinez if he gets the job. I'm not overwhelmed but I'm far from underwhelmed.

I don't trust his scouts.

I don't rate both McCarthy and McManaman.

I don't think we can pick up players like Mirallas and Fer from now on.
