Disagree strongly. There's no evidence whatsoever to back that up. Martinez hasn't worked with the same wage budget or club reputation as Moyes has.

There is a huge amount of evidence.

You can easily adjust performance to expenditure, as people on here have.

Moyes is THE standout overperformer relative to spending in the league, it isn't even close.

Wigan have a smaller budget than Everton, that is true. But the gap between our spending and Wigan's is a mere fraction of the gap between us and Villa, for example.

Losing more games isn't more fun. It is depressing as hell.

Neither is drawing, lose one, win one your a point better off. Moyes was so obsessed with not getting beat that he became happy with draws.

Don't get me wrong i can appreciate Moyes's fans reasons for liking him but I thought he was no more then safe and average.

Moyse did a job but It it was boring as hell to watch the majority of the time. Moyes is the sort of manager you want if you only have to watch the thirty second highlights.

Sounds like some find relegation acceptable as long as you play tiki taka and win the FA Cup.

Conceding 73 goals In a season is unacceptable and cannot be justified under any circumstances.

We can do better than Martinez, I've convinced of that.

I personally think that a ten million gap when both teams are spending 200 million plus means less then when both means are spending 50 million plus.

The less total money you have, the less options you have and at a club like wigan there's problems in recruitment and holding onto players that don't happen at slightly richer clubs than them, they lose some very good players on free transfers for one, they rarely get the continuity in players that we do. Management is more complicated than just if you win 5 games with ten pounds, you'll win 30 with 60 pounds.

If you want to compare Moyes and Martinez at their best, the two seasons are 2004-05 and 2012-13. Both inherited teams who'd only just stayed up the previous year, who had lost their best player and not spent all of that money on replacements. (Wigan made 2 million after swapping Moses for Kone and Ramis, we made 20 million after swapping Rooney for Cahill and Bent). Both had relatively low wage bills (Ours was 30 million, which was the 11th highest, theirs was 39 million which was the 19th highest and given both wage bills were funded by that net loss in the transfer league, both teams were one of the lowest spenders in the league, we were outspent by every other team and they were outspent by every other team bar reading.)

And yet despite that both teams did something extraordinary, they won the fa cup, we finished 4th. Both are, imo, standout acts of impressive management. Certainly two of the most impressive managerial achievements in the last decade of english football.

Getting bored of Southall piping up when it suits, get involved in the club officially or keep your opinions to yourself

Greatest goalkeeper in the world, but since he's retired he comes out with 100% rubbish about Everton. His all time classic 'It would do Everton good to get relegated'.

I'd value consistency over 38 games as more difficult than a cup run. Not better for club stature or as exciting, of course.
