Moyes is all for the League first over cup runs. I don't mind that cos it made us stable. But this season we had to many draws for some reason. I suppose most managers have their favourite players who the fans cant stand such as over playing Neville. The games against the rs at anfield have been terrible under Moyes.

Its nothing to do with "if they're good enough they'll play".

Of course they will, any manager would play a young player if they're clearly very good and able to slot into the first team squad pretty much straight away, there's very little risk in that.

Its the other ones, the good young players who have potential but need to be given that chance in the team to succeed or fail.

They're the ones where the risk comes that a more cautious manager won't play.

A "safe" experienced pro who'll you know you'll get a 6/7 out of 10 performance from, or a young inexperienced player who might give you a 4/10 yet might give you an 8/10 and become a more useful player to the squad than the safe option.

Moyes would clearly always go for the former rather than the latter. Its debateable as top which is the best way of doing things but he clearly doesn't have a record that backs up any claim that he gives youth a chance.

Thats bullshine and I aint having that.

Coleman was played RW, to learn the English game, hes only played actual football since he was 16, before that he played Galiac(sp) "football", Baines had to wait his chance, cos Lescott was playing like a beast at LB, plus he struggled a lot with injuries earlier on.

We paid 6m? for Baines, if you think he was bought to sit on the bench, you clearly never knew Moyes.

thge coleman reference is mainoly driven at this year goat, can you hand on heart say he would have started that many games had hibbert and neville been fit all year, thats the luck thing for the lad im referring to, and aye most of his grounding came at rw but bloody hell moyes has played naismith their so much it makes my eyes bleed, and we didnt have any otherreal options for that spot - yet again the luck element played into it.

cant remember the exact circumstance on when baines cracked the first team as brains now addled with age lad, but seem to recall a injury combined with lescott getting torn a new one by the liege winger over both games and it was shortly after that, but he looked up to the job soon as he was in the team

I'm not sure mate, Neville had to be in the first 11 mate, none of us wanted him in midfield but were ok of he was at rb so he was out of the middle. loads of fans on here use to ask why Neville was in the team over our young players. Moyes learned his lesson this season that Neville was now even ****ter. It was the wigan game when Moyes woke up.

I think it was Neville himself that woke up, he said this at his leaving night. Moyes would have carried on playing him.

Tired squad, lack of competition for places, I'd say so. You're not even making this hard

Why did he play Neville that day before Gibson if it was not because of his methods? Why can I only remember us really going for it in one big game in 11 years (Sunderland away) if it was not his methods. If you can tell me another big game we tried to win and not nick then fair enough.

He said Gibson was injured, tbf.

God knows I doubt it, but the official word was an injury.

He put him on the bench though. I thought moyes said it was tactical, because wigan had a young fast mobile midfield we needed an old, slow, knackered holding midfielder to counter them. Tactical genius.

Here a good article about Martinez, we have to remember he only 39, the same age when Moyes joined us. For those who are worring about him taking wigan down, this article says Jurgen Klopp went down with Mainz in 2007 and resigned 12 months later having failed to earn promotion back to the Bundesliga. However, his impact was such that Borussia Dortmund appointed him manager shortly afterwards; fair to say matters have subsequently not turned out too badly
