Here a good article about Martinez, we have to remember he only 39, the same age when Moyes joined us. For those who are worring about him taking wigan down, this article says Jurgen Klopp went down with Mainz in 2007 and resigned 12 months later having failed to earn promotion back to the Bundesliga. However, his impact was such that Borussia Dortmund appointed him manager shortly afterwards; fair to say matters have subsequently not turned out too badly

Wenger got relegated at 39, too. So did Royle.

If the manager's good enough he can bounce back from stuff like that.

A lot of people seem to be writing him off before he's even slipped into his Everton tracky. Bit unfair. He was never my first choice but you dont see me acting the way most have in this thread and the 'Moyes Replacement' thread.
This 'relegation' argument is ridiculous, stop mentioning it, because time after time its been blown away.
I think Moyes will do good at United because; He'll have better players, bigger budget, bigger wage budget, bigger name overall. Those four points ive mentioned can be directly applied to Martinez.
Give the fella a chance, no need in ****ging him off or wanting him out before he's even sat down.

Klopp got Mainz promoted to the top flight for the first time in their club history and finished high enough in the league to win a UEFA cup place. He had a win ratio of over 40%

Martinez took over a top flight team, hasn't finished higher than 15th and has a win ratio of 25%

They have both been relegated though so obviously it follows Martinez will become one of the greatest managers in Europe.

Look I'm not anti-Martinez, I think he has shown some promise, but he is clearly massively inferior to Moyes and to available managers like Blanc and the other two candidates.

Martinez also brought Swansea up to the Championship from League 1. Wigan have won the F.A cup for the first time ever, what we're saying is we cannot write him off cos he went down with Wigan. Moyes had gone mate and we're trying to move on.

Is right Lid......The moaning on here is ridiculous......There are reasons why so many in the industry speak so highly of him....The amount of times I have heard managers and the like say he is a fantastic manager.......Give him a chance if he signs...then judge................

If Martinez does sign, good luck to him, because he will need it as some beauts who support us are writing him off even before he has signed a contract.

I don't understand how he can be massively inferior to Moyes, unless Moyes has done something in the game that I don't know about?

He had probably 7 out of 11 decent seasons, got us into Europe three or four times and a cup final. We failed miserably in Europe but the fans, myself included, didn't recognise it because we enjoyed the piss up as it had been so long.

If the 90's hadn't been so dross Motes tenure would be nothing more then average.

Disagree strongly. There's no evidence whatsoever to back that up. Martinez hasn't worked with the same wage budget or club reputation as Moyes has.
