Put Martinez at Porto and he'd at least match what Pereira has done, just look at Pereira's European record, average at best.

I just want this wait ended.....I think we can safely say it's not going to be an internal appointment - which is good news. Whether it's Martinez/Peirera/a n other, they have a massive challenge on their hands trying to maintain top 6 finish and pushing for top 5 or 4 on our meagre financial resources. Mourinho/Wenger/Ancelotti would all struggle to maintain our current situation and look for improvement.

If you look at some of the games we lost last year Reading/Norwich for example- we would have been top 5/4, we were soooo close to achieving that in the hardest European league of them all. Whoever takes over has a MASSIVE challenge, and they will need our full support and backing.

So quit yer moaning and whinging - sit tight and wait for the announcement and give our new manager your full backing

All this Pereira wankery is bull****. I would love to see Martinez at either Benfica or Porto in what is a pathetic, Latin Scottish league. You get either of those two teams and you're golden, its a two horse race and impossible to lose. Taking on Wigan and having to sell your best players every year with only a fraction given for reinvestment in a league that spends heavily, that is a challenge. That takes bravery. I know he took them down but honestly I think if they hadn't won the FA Cup, if they hadn't been distracted by it, they would have comfortably stayed up. And then it just comes to, what would you prefer, 17th or 18th and the FA Cup?

so by your own basis we should have gone for McCall or Houghton then! martinez isnt the only manager in the world that didnt get to spend money! but yet he is the managerial god after all!

Which part?

Martinez would win the league? Much like Scotland it's a 2 horse race, I'm not saying he isn't a decent manager (although I don't really know either way), I'm saying that winning the Portugese league with the best squad in Portugal isn't the amazing achievement most on here will have you believe.

Or if it's the exotic name part of my post you are referring to, i base that on the majority of people not knowing who he was before 3 weeks ago.

Looks like Everton and Wigan have just agreed the compensation fee, reported on SSN. Now it's down to whether Martinez accepts the contract offer. Not the appointment i'd hoped for but just glad it's almost over, was dragging on a bit.
