I'm very excited and Martinez will be excited at this massive opportunity. We are Everton, the greatest supported club on this earth and we will blow him away when he enters Goodison Park on.......well.........they are definitely gonna give us Man Utd first game on sky. It is nailed on. Do they want ratings? There's your money bi*ch!

I'm actually frightened for this season. Martinez has my backing but I haven't felt a dread for the coming season since Wally Smith's days. I really don't want to go back to fighting relegation, please don't let it happen Roberto.

Our squad, as little as it is, is a good squad with top pro's in it and they wont allow for us to slip to the bottom reaches of the league!. Just cos Martinez is taking over, a manager that as just got relegated with Wigan, doesnt mean he'll have us down there!.

Dont tell me you are one of those people that thinks are players arent actually that great and that moyesy got a hell of a lot more out of them than there ability suggests please!. We have some good players and i think with the way Martinez likes to play the game, will improve our play and players and they will enjoy playing for him!.

At this moment in time, it's actually a good time to be our manager as we have a good set of players and were gonna have some finances due to the new TV deal, so we dont necessarily have to sell to buy!.

Have some faith, all Evertonians have faith!. Best of luck Roberto Martinez.

when Everton were in wigans position Moyes took us up, Martinez took them down you cant dispute this if he was a great manager he would of kept them up

We're not going to agree so lets leave it here. I just recken he got potential and Wigan have been lowing the wage bill for the last 3 years and ours have been rising hadn't help Martinez.

Aren't you banned mate?

If we sign that utter no mark McCarthey my mood shall be soured.

I hope he does, and I cant wait to laugh at you heartily when he becomes the greatest player on earth. :D

Actually I would like to think that he wont bring players from Wigan with him. We are in a much better position than them and Martinez can work in a slightly larger pool of players now.

You're talking rubbish lad.

Martinez had -£11m net spend during his tenure at Wigan. Moyes had £15m to spend in his first four years at Everton.

And before somebody says about 'comparing different times', it's irrelevant. You can't expect a manager to do the same job with negative net spend as a manager who actually gets money to buy players.

Absolutely delighted been banging the drum for Martinez for years never thought we'd get him.

Can't believe some have turned against him before a ball is kicked fckn scandalous behaviour get a grip you complete tools if ever Evertonians should be together it's at the appointment of a new manager - if you've got nothing good to say keep it shut.

Doubtless you'll be on here in droves as soon as we don't win a game - fkn grow up.

Welcome Roberto. You are the manager of my club and as my role as supporter, I will support you. Get behind him lads. Lets ensure he isn't battling against the fans from days one. Anything else will be very counter-productive.

agreed and i think 98% will but people should be able to state there fears just as much as those who are stating there glee at this stage!

come the 1st game of the season he will have everyones support!

Moyes had a club that got gates of 35k+, had a club that could afford bigger wages, had a club that had a bigger transfer budget. Even though Moyes didnt really buy us out of trouble, those factors mentioned contributed to us growing as a club.
I do think though Moyes would have kept Wigan in the Premier League, but thats just it, 16th/17th at best. Wigan were always going to go down, wasnt IF, it was WHEN.

Oh well, not the appointment I wanted, but I hope the fella proves me wrong.

He's now got a chance to prove that he's the top notch manager the likes of Dave "rent a quote" Whelan have been making out he is. We'll see how he adapts to taking the reigns of a big club, with much higher expectations. I think he'll need to toughen up & certainly not appear to accept defeat so willingly, but I wish him all the best. Good luck Roberto lad.
