What has been put by their fans doesn't make sense. His philosophy has started to pay off, conceeding lots of goals, and getting relegated.
We do not need someone to shake the "impending doom". We are a top 6 club. We have had a manager who has risen us from perenial relegation fodder to a side competing at the top end of the league and getting close to honours. What we actually need, is a manager who can take us from being a top 6 side, into one that finishes in the top 4.
Martinez has a proven track record of doing the exact opposite of that. We should be looking for someone to lift us into the top 4. We have just appointed someone who has been relegated a couple of weeks ago.
I hope you're right, and he is the man, but I have my doubts.

Yes of course.

But then we all know that this will only be possible if that manager is given a top 4 transfer and wages budget.......don't we? well I hope we do anyway!

His style of play has been described by Roberto Martínez as "a clever player and natural finisher ... who can create havoc in the penalty area."

6.5M pounds later, he is worse than Denis Stracqualursi. Is that even possible?

He tw@tted us 3 nil when it mattered then went on to tw@t the richest club in Christendom and actually lift the trophy - 2 equivalent results that would never happen under the last regime.

You're ignoring the circumstances at Wigan - wages slashed, transfer funds removed all from day one. Our manager was given a few years before transfer funds were blocked and on top of that he inherited Rooney and hasn't HAD to sell his stars.

Imagine those things happening to Moyes from day 1 - relegation??? possible.

Certainly not my first choice as manager and am worried about direction now but. As a fan you have to row in behind manager whoever they may be.still not a given that he will accept the position but if he does I think he will bring in Aidan mcgeady as one of his first signings and Di Santo ( he is out of contract) .Think fellaini will be sold on and am hoping he goes to Chelsea and lukaku comes as part of the deal.with heitinga going stones will be around the1st team and he will look to bring in a defender or 2

Those concentrating on Wigan's relegation and comparing his tenure to Steve Bruce should read what Wigan fans wrote:

""he has got Wigan Athletic playing the most attractive, exciting, attacking and effective football we have ever played and has simultaneously made the organisation and defence rock solid. It is an unbelievable turn around, but the stunning last 6 months (which involved beating Liverpool, Arsenal and should of been Chelsea away and Man U at home) aren’t a blip in form or a fluke, they are the result of the changes he has made."

Come on Bobby you beauty!!!

I've no idea which deluded Wiganer wrote that, but in the last 6 months of his tenure (Dec- May) they kept a total of 3 clean sheets in the league. Lost 12 out of 23 League games & never got higher than 1 week at 16th in the League.

They conceded 2 or more goals in 18 of those 23 fixtures - rock solid defence? I think not.

Anyone who watched their home game to Swansea which as good as sealed their demise, could see what their problem was & has been for his entire time there - their defensive set up.

I hope your glowing praise for him ends up being justified, but I have grave concerns about the man tbh, I hope I'm wrong.

Van Basten ??? Klopp ??!!

Maybe even Conte, or Mourinhio ??!!

We have ZERO money to spend, and are not in Europe. RM is about the best we can hope for, and he is not THAT bad ffs.

Look guys, I'm quite sure we won't be playing 3 at the back under Martinez if he's our next manager. He'll recognise we've got an ace back 4 and I could see us perhaps playing 4-3-3 under him.

If Felli goes we would be unable to play a 4-3-3. In fact, even if Felli stays we would struggle to play a 4-3-3 as we lack the right personnel for a 3 man midfield. We do not have ANY senior RMs (Mirallas is a winger/striker, not a middie) and Pienaar is too lightweight to play LM in a 4-3-3.

Don't manager's make mistakes?

The greatest manager this country has seen spent £7milllion on Bebe.

By the way Boselli came to England with a boss goal scoring record.
