To be honest, I'd happily surrender a top 6-8 position if it means some silverwear and tearing into teams rather than bottling big games. Providing we stay in the league of course..... I think we could've tried for another 11 years with our last manager and still won nothing

Martinez tends to play with 1 DCM then 2 CM just infront as apposed to your 2CM and an ACM just infront. Did at Swansea and early doors Wigan. Infact when Rogers took over at Swansea he swapped it to what your suggesting 4-2-3-1 which is what we play currently.

I like 4-3-3 and hope he plays that. Same as arsenal play basically but tbf I like our 4-2-3-1 we play currently. Best way of possession football is 4-3-3 (arse, barca, ect)

Our expectation under Martinez should not be dropping league positions. our aim should be to crack the top 4. If we drop league places, it will be time for him to go. With that team he has, lets be honest, anything outside the top 8 is completely unnacceptable.

We've took some pastings under Moyes with better squads.

Getting smashed at home by Arsenal 6-1, a few years earlier 7-0 at their place.

I don't have any expectations regarding league position, but I do have expectations as to our approach to each game and that we should be playing a more attacking brand of football - going for the win.

I also expect 3-4 players leaving (not counting Neville, Mucha and Hitzelsberger), and 5-6 players arriving to bolster our numbers. 1-2 of them will come from Wigan, with the most obvious targets being McCarthy, McManaman, Maloney and Kone.

Most importantly we need to give the manager time to implement his ideas and not view the league position as the only way of judging progress.
