Bryan being the chap who asserts nobody is excited about Martinez despite me and others posting to the contrary and Martinez being one of only 3 names forming any type of consensus out of a multitude of options - what a winner.

So, out of the three (top three) he has less than 15% of the votes, barely half that of the leaders. He isn't a favourite, he isn't what anyone would have chosen given the choice, yet we are seemingly half way done.

i can't get excited about a third place winner.

McCarthy is easily the best player Wigan have got. If we should sign anyone from Wigan it would be him. Maybe just him.

Thinking about the negativity towards Roberto Martinez and almost of the view that whoever comes in they'll get dissed on the forums.

If he is offered the job and takes it maybe one pointer to his strength of character and ambition is that, having heard the displeasure of Evertonians towards their team, and their manager the day his Wigan side wiped our backsides he's still keen on joining. That to me shows a little bit of balls - he knows the crowd can come on top of the team and management when it's not going great.

Did he used to congratulate his team on being battered when he was at Swansea as well?

never ****ged his team off in the media but he brought a lot of new things to the team like before night games he would change training times to evening training sessions and through what i heard the things he done behind the scenes with training sports science etc was different class,he ahead of the times and you could do a lot worse with the prehistoric managers that do the rounds

I hope Martinez does not get involved in our summer transfer activity tbh. I trust what moyes was probably looking to bring in. Suppose Martinez if hired would have to be consulted as he would be selecting the team but hopefully for this summer he is not in complete charge of transfers.

FFS!!

Get a grip mate, he's gone, we move on.

I am totally ambivalent toward him.

yeh.... but you didn't say that something about "NO-ONE is excited" - when plenty are absolutely delighted (me included) if the deal is done.

If its Martinez I will give him my full support. He is a massive gamble and should be honored to be linked anywhere near our job. It might not work out but he does have a lot of admirers in the game who speak very highly of him. One thing I do think he would do, is make the full use of our academy.

I am made up, I've wanted him all along and I have always believed he would get the job.

He is exactly what we need.

My guesswork;- Everton were reportedly interested in five external candidates, Martinez, Laudrup, Mackay,Di Matteo and Pereira, according to ssn last week, of which Laudrup can now be eliminated. So IF the two others they're interested in are external candidates, then that leaves two out of Mackay, Pereira and Di Matteo. Obviously one or both could be an internal which would put Stubbs, Neville and Weir in the running. Have only heard Lennon as being a runner from the betting but not from ssn and so I think he can be ruled out.
