It's not certain he has signed, but I fancy Martinez to be a poptastic manager if he comes. I can't believe he is still only 39 though. Management is the game to be in. 2 million a year until you push 70.

Dave Whelan:

'Obviously i dont want to lose him but he is an ambitious person, a briliant manager. He is one of the 6 great young managers in the country'

That was Whelan talking about Paul Jewell. He said similar things about Steve Bruce, saying its an 'absolute certainty' he would take over from Ferguson at Old Trafford. Is it a case of people swallowing his hyperbole? I think we may have been sold a pup here to be honest.

He was the one who started Swansea's style of play, which Brenda and Laudrup are taking credit for.

He's clearly got a lot of pros and his cons have questions marks over them, that could be answered with our better players, wage bill and attractiveness for players.

Also he seems like a classy bloke; I would not be embarrassed to see someone like him representing us, as he conducts himself with a bit of integrity.

It may all go tits up but if he's appointed the new Everton boss he has my full support.

I've been reading this thread like most on here from the start (for shame, for shame) and the comments that are often used with regards to Martinez is, lets hope he's learnt from his mistakes, he's young he will learn from his mistakes. Well he hasn't he has struggled each season, and each season he has failed to sort out the defensive problems he had at Wigan so what make people think this will change once he comes to Everton If a boxer keeps getting hit in the face and doesn't learn to duck he's not going to make a good boxer. My point is that if he hasn't learnt by now will he ever learn.

I just hope that Roberto Martinez isn't reading this thread.

Everton FC seems to be morphing into Sad Sack F.C.

I can understand United fans being underwhelmed at having Moyes foisted upon them adter Fergie.....but us?

In one bound we are free of a very negative manager whom was just biding his time until he could "move on to better things" (his words, not mine).

In his stead we look like having a progressive young coach whom will be handed better tools so we can now see what he is made off.

Everton are on the cusp of a new paradigm.

Embrace it, you guys.

Let's give Roberto a chance......heck, let him even get the job in the first place....before heaping all the Sad Sackism on his head.

If by some chance you are reading this, Roberto.......Bienvenido a Everton.

Dave Whelan. Wasn't there something to do with his arm or leg or something? Perhaps I'm getting him mixed up with someone else.

TBF it took Davey 11 years to learn how to attack. If he is appointed he'll be given time and support to sort it out......

Against West Ham for Moyes' last Home game the atmosphere was similar to that of a Derby. Best since Fiorentina.
When we as fans are really up for a game you can see many oppositions wilt. West Ham could hardly string 2 passes together.
As a set of fans we tend to react to what we see on the pitch regarding our vocal support but often an amazing atmosphere can really alter the pattern of a match. This relates to my earlier point. Big games are Big games. Man United, Chelsea etc are used to playing at hostile away grounds in big key games. The likes of Wigan, West Ham, Norwich etc are not and should not be expected to go Away from home and collect 3 points. As mentioned above Wigan at home for lots of clubs is like another Home game as we buy up all the spare tickets thus making the atmosphere 50/50.
