With Hughes set to be appointed at Stoke and it being somewhat unlikely he'd get the Malaga job Martinez is risking a lot on getting the Everton job if he hasn't had any kind of assurance.

...I'm absolutely not in the Periera camp for reasons previously articulated but I don't think he's on Bill's radar. The indication is that Bill has narrowed his applicants down to 3 (reported on Sky Sports as we speak). We know one of these is Martinez and I expect another is an internal - probably Weir who is reported to have been impressive when interviewed. That leaves one. It could be Vitor, but I have my doubts. Reports coming out of Russia indicated that Bilic has been interviewed and Everton had made enquiries regarding potential amount of compensation to his current club (St Petersburg I think).
So there you go, my 3 are Martinez, Weir and Bilic. My preference is Martinez but who knows what the next few days will bring. The only certainty is that things are rarely straightforward at Everton.
thinking about it i reckon its been on for months
Really, really don't agree with this.
When we played Wigan at home and won 2 - 1 (just before we played Chelsea and lost 0 - 2) they were appalling.
We were pretty bad too mind you.
Worst game I watched at Goodison last year.
He's left them. How could Whelan say Martinez doesn't feel he's the one to take them forward in the Championship and that he accepts his decision? It's a resignation. Full stop.Martinez has not resigned,he's told Whelan he wants to leave Wigan, and Kenwright has asked for permission to speak to him.

I think its 3 external interviews to be done this week, internals last week, Bilic is at Lokomotiv Moscow btw
