This will be a big tester of Carlo's 'quiet leadership' management style. I think rarely does he throw a player under the bus, and if does hand Olsen the perm spot, then he will have to deal with the fallout that will come from the media and from Jordan.

But that decision would surely be starting to be become a lot easier for him to make.

I thought the most telling thing he done was when a cross came in from the left side of the pitch and he took complete control and gathered the ball at full stretch. When you are defending it is brilliant when you have confidence that your keeper will dominate his area and do the things he is meant to do. Breeds confidence and strengthens bonds.

Having him in the sticks for the trip to OT will at a minimum force a change in tactics from OGS. For the cup game over Christmas as well as the home defeat back-end of last season, Fernandes (mostly but others too) notably kept trying shots from distance. And it succeeded on more than one occasion. I saw a stat recently we were in the top three (I think) sides for conceding from shots outside the box this season.

Having someone remaining switched on and who is better capable of following the player in possession, adjusting his own positioning to reflect that will address the achilles heel they have exploited.

It's poor positioning, or it's a really poor dive if he can only just reach the centre of the goal for a relatively weakly hit shot from his 'good' position.
His kicking isn't as good as Pickford's. I know people love to hate him so he doesn't get credit, but his kicking is pretty decent.

I don't really go for this goalkeeper kicking stuff at all.

By the very nature of it a goalie kick is basically pure luck, you can put it in the right position but if one of your teammates doesn't win the ball it cant be classed as a good kick. There have been loads of instances where Pickford just boots it straight back to the opposition goalie putting us straight back under pressure again. It's pure luck.

Pickford is probably better with his feet but that's not quite the same thing.

As for the goal it came from a mix up in the defence and then went through someones legs, most goalies wouldn't save it as it was put out of his reach. No goalie is going to save everything.

I don't hate Pickford but I don't like him as a goalie purely because he has been rubbish for my team on a regular basis and I don't trust him. I honestly don't see how Pickford vs Olsen is even a discussion at this point. Olsen has been much better this season, that doesn't mean Pickford should be totally bombed out of the squad, like any position he should have to play his way back in.
