If Pickford gets done for it, he's getting the blame. I'm not saying that's right, I'm saying that people would be saying it was Pickford's fault, and they would be.

The Fernandes goal - the fault really is with Davies, who overall played well, not closing down the space. Olsen is slightly out of position but you don't give a player of Fernandes' quality that time and that space to do what he did.

The third goal, he knows he messed up, but he just slips. Luckily didn't cost us entirely in the end.
Very very harsh to blame Tom on that one. Sometimes good goals get scored, that was one.

I don't know the first thing about goalkeeping positioning, but I don't think there's much he can do about the Fernandes goal. It does seem to be way out of his reach at the point it's going over him.

Not much I can say for him for the 3rd other than perhaps the pitch played a part.
As a keeper, its not the positioning in that case, it's his footwork. He's flat footed and reacts slow. He in fact doesn't even move his feet at all. Needs to shuffle backwards to give himself a chance.

And to think.... I stood at my door at 6pm and clapped for him. I will let him off with the slip, the second he needs to be doing better.

This is spot on, should be on his toes but instead is caught flat footed, can't react in time and specifically change his footing, the dive made a big tall man look small, very preventable goal

The Fernandes shot is a world class strike, It has dip and bend, Olsen is a tall lad and got no where near it. Sometimes you just have to hold your hands up at top draw finishes.
The 3rd one, People saying he slipped, I think the pitch does mess him up a little but it's definitely his fault, Well not gonna turn on him because he gets a lot more chances than that but it wasn't good for the third.

You don't give Fernandes - probably the best player in the league this season on form - that amount of time 20 yards out from goal. Davies didn't commit, it's something he needs to be better at.

But, yes, not many players can then pull off a shot like that.

If some of his flapping would had been Pickford then there would be howls of derision
If some of his great saves had been Pickford then that would have been on but not enough to cover his flapping
Which just shows once the GOT haters hate it’s a long way back ...

It could just be one keeper has been here for almost 5 years and is known for making mistakes consistently which have cost us time and time again and one has been here about 6 months and been used sporadically this season and has made one or two mistakes so people are a bit more hesitant to harshly throw the book at him?

In fairness it would be unfair for Carlo to drop him for the next game Pickford is fit again. Olsen has had to sit and watch Pickford make mistake after mistake while not given a real chance, never mind a run in the game, so he needs to be given his own chance now. Leave him in the side for a month and reassess after that.

Pickford would have been absolutely slaughtered on here for giving the performance that Olsen gave last night .

We just expect too much, never to make a mistake, never to concede a goal
Olsen is a good standard Premiership goalkeeper, Pickford in my opinion is the better keeper however.

I think Liverpool and City probably have the two best.

Makes a mockery of Pickdords critique, but who would be a keeper anyway.

Thought Olsen was at fault for second as well as third goal.

However, also made some good saves too.

Varied distribution is probably the biggest difference between the two, and Olsen having less variations.

Pickford will always get gripe, whatever he does, even if he did shift work at Morrison's behind the bread. He is just one of those men who inspire primeval alpha male responses in others.

You’re correct, he would have. The context however is that we’ve seen countless errors or poor performances by Pickford during his Everton career.

Olsen will make mistakes too and in the long-term he may eventually be less reliable than Pickford, but in the here and now there’s one I’d trust more.

Poor performances made in isolation and against other solid performances and a history of calamities aren’t one and the same.
