Romelu Lukaku

I think the OP was asking the question, is it possible that Rom is labelled as 'lazy' because he is black, the insinuation being that if he was white he wouldn't be subject to the same criticisms/stick?

With genuine motives and no malice, I don't think there's any harm in asking. The same could be levelled at Kev, Ross and Gerri.

I honestly don't think it has anything to do with it. Rom is potentially one of the best strikers in world football. His strike ratio and ability are without question. The goal he scored at Leicester is one that only he and only a few other strikers in Europe could have scored. What he is not is an all action centre forward who runs himself into the ground. We all remember Southampton away and Chelsea FA cup at home. He was simply brilliant, unplayable, we all want to see that Rom. The problem is we to often see a Rom that looks cumbersome, lazy and off the pace.

We need to get the best out of him and I would like us to hold on to him for another few seasons. He's definately one of the best we've had in decades.

No there wouldnt be if there was some substance to his question, hence my comment about Gueye. Now if people were saying he was lazy, the op may have a point.

People calling Rom lazy had a point which is backed up by this

'Of the 503 outfield players to play in the Premier League last season, amazingly, none covered less ground per 90 minutes than Lukaku. His return has barely improved this season (currently 415th of 419 outfield players).'

What on earth does his race have to do with anything, you bad meff.

He's so lazy for a modern day striker but can't help roll my eyes at the some of the posts on here his goal scoring record is unreal its so depressing knowing if he moved on we would probz be fighting for our lives at the bottom with Tony fecking Pulis sorry if this doesn't make sense I'm still drunk oops..

We've heard Koeman say he doesn't want him to run so much and that he wants him to stay in the centre. So just following orders there, I guess.
Unfortunately, not many balls are getting there for the moment.

As mentioned in the Barkley thread IF you want to get the best out of Rom and Ross you have to compensate for what they lack.

They are both top class players but lack movement and energy. This is why Gueye stands out so much and Davies has had a positive impact.

You cannot have Barry, Mirallas, Deulofeu etc in the same team as they are often static, slow to cover errors. Not calling them bad players but they have the same weaknesses as the two mentioned. Barry is due to age sadly.

You cannot have Cleverley anywhere near either as not only does he have a similar problem he also hides and moves into positions where he cannot receive possession. A few others are guilty of this too.

That is the job of Koeman and Walsh. Find players who will create the balance the side is crying out for.

Agree even baines doesn't get into good positions anymore but he getting more crosses in and we need to use baines more then Coleman as his crossing can be magic.

This is why I wanted sissoko as he moves forward with the ball quickly and get into good poaitions

Hadn't seen that one.
I still think he has so much going for him though. Love Rom and would hate for us to lose him.

How many have scored more goals than him

I was replying to another post by another user. I didn't quote it directly but there it is below. (I should have with hindsight)
You've highlighted 1 part of the middle of a sentence that was actually a question and made it look like a statement. I hope with the context of the original post below you'll see that I agree with you that race should never have anything to do with it.

I`m going to say it as I`m pissed, but I so often want to say to people at the match - why do you think he is lazy? Is it because he is not caucasian.

Imagine how many he'd score if he had even one competent creative player behind him.
I wish he was capable of creating on his own more, but he surely needs better service. Just needs to help himself by holding the ball a little better. I don't expect him to trap every 70 yarder like Fellaini, but he should at least learn to hold up passes a little better. He already has the goalscoring down, so any creative outlet will do wonders for him.
