Romelu Lukaku

I think you're right on the whole but he could put himself about a bit more.

Yeh probably, but it just isn't his game.

Which is personally why I find the whole proposed move back to Chelsea rather baffling. Conte's system relies on a player up top who is going to do the hard yards and get in the mix of things.

Not that Rom wouldn't score a load of goals with the likes of Hazard, Pedro et all behind him, but still...

50m + Batyshuayi and I'd take it. Then go and get Martial from Utd.
Not sure Batyshauayi is worth 50 mill mate. Besides can you imagine the convo between him and rom:

Rom: come on man come to Everton it's a great club.
Bat: yeah but why do you want to leave if it's so great rom?
Rom: come on man it really is a great club, you would love it.
Bat: yeah Rom so why do you want to leave then?
Rom: *sulks* come on man you are taking my spot it's not fair waaahhhhh.

Genuinely don't think anyone will come in for him. He is too hot and cold for a UCL team. And definitely not at £100m. He may be thinking it might be worth his while to pick up the pen on that contract if it is still around.

No point in us keeping him then if we're aiming to be a UCL team next year.

People need to get a grip and stop playing down how good he has been for us / how massive a loss he will be. Guarantee if we sell him, his replacement won't equal his record.

He isn't a flat track bully though. The stats prove that.

We haven't got good enough players to give him the service he needs against the top teams. It's pretty simple.
This 100%.
Said it time and time again, a striker is only as good as the service he gets. Whilst Im having a rant, people saying we won nothing when Linekar was here after scoring 30odd goals, well, we won naff all when Latchford scored 30. In fact we won nothing for 14 years. And now we have won nothing for 22. To start winning things, we need to keep the likes of Rom and Barkley and get in better players to move on. Sorry, but anyone who thinks Rom should go needs their heads examined. Rant over.

This is nonsense, he looks out of his depth against better defenders, organised teams, the service argument is rubbish because the ball just bounces off him and comes straight back at us, his all round game has time after time been proved to be not up to it in the bigger games

After much deliberation I think he's gone. But we'll have a strong plan A to cope.

That 80 odd million that China has given to Chelsea for Costa is coming straight to us and we're going to breeze through it and completely reinvigorate the squad.

Shades of 2004 season.

Lukaku is not going to fetch 100m or even close. As a bargaining position we have to start as high as possible but I think the final fee will be closer to 80m.

As it happens I think he will stay at Everton, but I think it may be similar to last season where clubs are not sufficiently convinced by him to pay the huge sums we are asking.

He's (probably) going to be the Premier League's top scorer.

If they're not convinced by him now, he'll be spending his career with us.

Latchford was the laziest striker I have seen in all my decades of watching Everton. He only came alive in and around the 6 yard box, getting that vital half-yard on opponents. At his prime with us, we did not have players of sufficient quality to augment his goal poaching, apart from Duncan McKenzie.
