Romelu Lukaku

He played like Kone usually does today.

Woeful. And that after his media talk about being sooooooooooooo good and how he knows it.

Rom gets a lot of criticism on here for his work rate. Some say he does not work hard enough. Others that you need a striker who scores and not a marathon runner.

I am really pissed off with the shift he put in today. He was totally static.

Two examples, in the first half, there as a loose ball well up their side of the pitch, a striker on his toes could easily have knicked it and have been thru on the keeper. Rom spends half the game on his heels and not on his toes.

Second half, Oviedo curled a bueaty into the box. Rom was behind the defender from start to finish and never made a run. My lads are taught the semi circular run to get in front of ghe defender by the time they are 7 at football school. At least three times he could have stuck a foot out at a shot but was offside.

I am not saying he is crap - far from it - but if you asked the West Brom defenders today off the record was Rom hard to play against, I am fairly sure you would get a wry smile.

Granted, he has been horse whipped in terms of workload this season but before giving more "I am Stephen Hawking" of world football type interviews, he should have a wee look in the mirror.

He has a lot to learn from Aaron Lennon.

Lennon has benefited from fierce competition for his position.

Rom needs that too.

He wasn't garbage, the system was.

For him to play against that defence today, he has to pin himself against a defender and allow his teammates to play off him.

He did the first part, and except for two occasions not once did anyone play a ball into feet and come for the give and go, because we were too busy crab passing with two or three touches.

He didn't have a chance to perform today.

He's off. That's why Niasse has come in, he'll be spearheading our attack with Konehead next year. Lukaku stopped being bothered after our season-destroying December.
And who could blame him?

Let's just hope we get top dollar for him, and the money is given to a new manager who actually knows how to win football matches.
