Romelu Lukaku

Do you think he'll stay in summer if we don't get it this year?

I hope he will, but I can't see it.

Depends on how he does in the Euros to be honest. If he's on fire like Rooney was at Euro 2004 he'll one million per cent be going. If he barely plays or underwhelms like he did in the World Cup then we might get to hang onto him for another season. Perhaps our saving grace is that the Belgium manager quite notoriously doesn't like using Lukaku for God knows what reason, he's played Origi and Benteke ahead of him many times. Their loss could be our gain.

Read that earlier, If you can draw anything from that it doesn't sound to me like a player who has one foot out the door already like most here seem to think, if anything he sounds very much like he expects and wants to be here next season, think maybe too many of us have missed what having a very talented group of young players means in terms of a player maybe wanting to stick around just in case it does suddenly click in place.

Lukaku isn't stupid, he realises that at 23 if he stays another season his value won't diminish one bit, he realises that another season here would see him being the focal point yet again for a team which in all likelihood will improve in creating him chances, and maybe just maybe he thinks that Martinez can turn this current team into one that can challenge for things in the near future - especially with an influx of cash next season from he sky deal and a new owner coming in as well.

I've gone to firmly believing he will still be at us next season now.

.....the bit I like is when he says he sees a picture of where the goal and defenders are. It's exactly what goal scorers do.

saw an interview with him and De Bruyne when they where both knew at Chelsea and loved the way he talked about the game back then too, kid is class

Lukaku is by all accounts a complete football nerd. He is also only 22. I don't see any way at this stage he would be attracted by China, even if they did offer him something ridiculous. The football there will still be of a poor level and he wants to play in the Champions League and prove himself as one of the best strikers in the World. That's not going to happen in China.
Only a true football nerd would defend the all around bad person Nicolas Anelka after being an idiot just because he was one of his favorite players as a kid. Pretty sure he later apologized but that was pretty much his equivalent of Liverpool and Chelsea supporters downplaying the indecency of Luis Suarez and John Terry because they're blinded by their passion for the game.

Lukaku is fine the way he is, I don't want any of our players to injure apposing players like Stephen Hunt on Cech, Fashanu on Mabbutt, Nolan
on Anichebe............. I could go on for a long time. Thank Christ this Martinez doesn't want that type of player.
I do believe the F.A. or F.I.F.A. are to blame for their changes of rules. It seems that obstruction is no longer a foul, commentators, pundits
and current players condone obstruction, even praise a player for 'shepherding' the ball out or time-wasting, or this ridiculous Man Marking at
corners etc.
Quite a few years ago the 'Aldridge Penalty' (Stuttering run up before kicking the ball)was illegal in the game, and was classed as ungentlemanly
behaviour. It was ironical that the only legal penalty Aldridge took was against Wimbledon at Wembley. (Beasant saved it!).
Goalkeepers moving about on the goal-line before the penalty is taken a la Grobbelaar & Dudek (2 Champions Finals) Amazing....
I'd sooner we lost rather than injure or cheat!

I cannot wait to see him and an massively improved partner (Niasse for Nais or Kone). If Niasse pulls off the type of play he managed in Russia (big ask I know) they could be outstanding together. We play good break football now with slow Kone/Clev, imagine if we had even more pace...
