Romelu Lukaku

Moshiri in his open letter to the Arsenal fans made a specific point of pointing out the folly in selling the clubs best players and that it was something that if they had control they would put a full stop to, honestly do not see any chance at all he will sell Rom within 4-5 months of him taking over, it goes against absolutely we have heard from the new owner. We will defintiely have Rom here next season after that it is down to a lot of factors

He's spot on in his interview, this team should be top 4 this year and we're underperforming massively. I wouldn't blame the guy one bit for leaving for PSG or someone in the summer, and all those moany arl arses who call him lazy etc will soon realise just how good he was; immense.

Only hope we have of keeping him now is winning the cup and having a storming end to the season.

The only saving grace is that there is no obvious team for Lukaku to move onto particularly if he wishes to stay in the Premier League.

I'm not surprised Moshiri has not talked to him or his agent, from a negotiating point of view that would be a very weak starting point.

The focus has to be on the strongest possible finish to the season, 7 or 8 league wins from our remaining games as a minimum, and at least an FA Cup Final appearance.

Then Moshiri can sit down and lay out his plans for the summer and next season.

I do believe if we have a strong finish to the season we stand every chance of keeping him for reasons I expressed earlier in the thread - yes Lukaku wants CL experience but he'd have to trade a huge amount in leaving Everton to perhaps getting one extra year. We must convince him that we will qualify next year. That onus sits with Martinez.

The only way Lukaku is staying is if we make a statement and bring in a proven winner as a manager.... far more important than any players coming in during the summer.
That's pretty miles off, tbh. The reverse is in all likelihood to be true.

If Martinez isn't there he'll have the perfect excuse to leave Everton. And then we'll have a 25-30 goal per season hole to fill.

Agreed, with Spurs and Leicester gaining CL footy, the clubs like United, Chelsea e.t.c who may well miss out don't have that string to their bow. He may well go overseas however, which would be much preferable to seeing him in the PL.

Lukaku wants to leave because like most people he can see the direction Martinez has taken us and that it isn't likely that it will be changing to an upwards trajectory any time soon

I think the Euro2016 tournament holds the key. If he's a star of the tournament he's not going to go back to life with us - regardless of just about anything. He craves CL football and he'd have an avalanche of offers from top European clubs. It'll be a struggle to retain him in any case, but if he has a good Euros he's almost certainly gone.
