Romelu Lukaku

I think he'll earn a not inconsiderable amount from a deal to sell Lukaku and very much doubt he's putting all his other football business on hold for one deal, no matter how lucrative. Players would take their business elsewhere if their agent was too busy to represent them at pivotal points in their career, don't you think?

Yes mate, that's a very good point but Raiola is second only to Mendes. He gets players what they want, that means sponsors, houses, whatever you name it. Lukaku's father wants him to be with Raiola, Romelu doesn't go against his dad.

That might sound mad, "whys he letting his dad dictate it" but that's what they do.

The one major flaw in that is that to get Lukaku to sign a new contract he has to agree and based on what is being reported he doesn't want to be at Everton. As for not having to sell that's a whole different arguement for its not just about the money.

He'll sign a new deal because, 1) He'll make more money, 2) It may sweeten his position if he'd like to leave in the future.

Where are these sources that his club can't believe the £10m offer? Most pundits think it is good business for Everton. Pat nevin, gabbidon.

Two pundits have indeed stated that but elsewhere it is reported that Swansea have been open to talks of a move for the soon to be 32 year old who has two years left on his contract for £10 million.

That is a supporters take on things but say he does sign for say an extra £20k a week after tax etc that's worth what about £10 k a week to him. Huge to the majority of us but say he leaves for £50 million and ithe doesn't ask for a transfer and excluding any signing on fee he would be in line for a 5% cut or put another way £2.5 million gross or about £1.25 million net plus no doubt he would be on even higher wages.

If he signed a new deal, especially an extra 40k a week and then moved on in a year or so, he'd make more in terms of loyalty payments (no transfer request) and as a wage. Chelsea/Any buying club would have to pay a lot more p/w, obviously, but even more if he signs a new deal.

What the heck? Remy? Don't do this. Some guy makes up an article and one of the the clubs the non elite people go to have their careers morgued is part of a deal in his lazy journalistic mind and you say 'well hmm that could be good actually.' Just no. Think about it.

I did say that you could file with all of the speculative nonsense :p

£40k a week is just not going to happen. The PL version of FFL puts a cap on total wage bill meaning any increase over around £7 million PA cannot be franked from the increase in TV monies . Irrespective I have no doubt that his agent would be more than able to extract at least £40 k a week increase from whoever and add to that a signing on fee and almost certainly a nice little image rights deal that based on replica short sales alone would be far more lucrative than any package that would be offered and indeed stand up to scrutiny by HMRC than could be offered at Everton

It's a big risk selling him what the point in having the 75m if we haven't got a suitable replacement? There is no one available who could score half the goals lukaku bags and we need his goals, the midfield don't add enough to the tally at the moment.

Eh, what is this doing in the Lukaku thread ?

If there actually has been an offer of £60m plus Remy, I would take that, we can still get another striker in with the cash. Like Mario Gomez, Wilfried Bony or Christian Benteke and still have about £30m in change to use in other areas
