Here is Drogba's record during his first spell with Chelsea in the league
2004–05 26 10
2005–06 29 12
2006–07 36 20
2007–08 19 8
2008–09 24 5
2009–10 32 29
2010–11 36 11
2011–12 24 5
So apart from that one season he only ever got above 20 goals once. In fact he only got above 12 once.
And... that season they didn't get to the Champions League final. They were put out in the round of 16.
No doubt Drogba was incredible but Rom got 25 goals for us and already his overall goal scoring record is far better playing for far worse teams.
Rom's stats
2012–13 38 17
2013–14 31 15
2014–15 36 10
2015–16 37 18
2016–17 37 25
And.... He's still younger than Drogba was when Drogba joined Chelsea plus Drogba's lack of first touch and general play was also scorned then too.
Ultimately Lukaku's career will depend on a number of thing but with the financial resources of Utd I think he will stay there for the next 6 seasons and probably win everything there is to win.
I can't see any striker in world football I would have over him given his age.
Drogba was so much more than a goal scorer though and not to mention a big game player which is why I brought him up originally seeing as he's Lukaku's idol and Lukaku is struggling in a role that Drogba excelled in. As for Rom being with Man Utd for six years and winning the lot? Don't see it unless Mourinho is moved on, Lukaku's role is simplified and they bring in a top class attacking manager.
