Romelu Lukaku

The best compliment I could pay him is that he is a striker version of Sam Allardyce.... bring him in and your team would not get relegated but it would have to be his way, it won't be pretty on the eye and you will never win anything with him.

A bit like Darren Bent was used.... could take a team out of bottom 3 on his own but the team would be set up for him. Stuck him in a spurs team that plays football and......

Prior to him joining United they won the Europa, the EFL and charity shield..... nothing since.
There's an element of truth in the above, but not the whole truth.

I'm not sure about that one chief. I like DCL a lot but Lukaku is much better, especially when players around him are playing well.

Lukaku is better when he doesn't have to play football... which means he is highly dependant on being surrounded by players who can carry him.

The only way that happens is if his team mates are at a distinct advantage over the opposition... which points to why he is so poor against top 6 sides and good against lower level. There is no striker around who has such a disproportionate amount of goals as Rom.... he loves a garbage team to get his stats up..

The DCL vs Lukaku argument can be perfectly supported by Firminho vs Sturridge...... firminho is nowhere near as prolific as Sturridge but plays near every single game with Sturridge being the "throw of the dice" option.... the reason is clear. Liverpool as a side are far better with a number 9 who can bring others into play, who can press, win balls, provide intelligent movement. Yep... Sturridge may be a better finisher but if the ball isn't getting held up, recycled, retained, with opponents having to work harder then it's a false economy....

Ran out of steam? No... it was summed up perfectly hencev it didn't need to be long... he falsely gets credit for being a top striker like allardyce did for being a top manager..... the reality is that with either of them the one thing you are assured of is that you won't get relegated.... you won't win anything though as neither have the ability to impact top level games.

But it's ok..... he must be treated like royalty despite crapping on us constantly cos he won us a "we've got a striker who scored 20+ goals" trophy.

Seen the likes of Charlie Austin, Rickie Lambert, Darren Bent, James Beattie, plunder a similar amount of goals in a season to Rom. Similar level of players.

It really wasn't.

Such an odd suggestion. No team has ever brought him in to avoid relegation. The lowest he's ever finished is 11th. He's performed regularly better than every single one of those players. Every Premier League season he has got double figures. The closest to that of those you've mentioned is Beattie who did it 41% of the time.
Nothing adds up

Did I say a team bought him to avoid relegation or did I say "bring him in and your team would not get relegated".... massive difference.

He has never won anything and arguably bottled every big stage game he has played in... at semi final level for us (FA Cup and League Cup)... man united the fa cup final ... Belgium world cup semi... and top 6 games in general.

Every season he gets double figures??? interesting slant.... my take on it is that in 7 seasons hes broke the 20 goal mark once.... shearer did it 7 times in 14 seasons for lesser quality teams including 2 cruciate injuries.... look at United strikers of the past look at how many get 20+ goals ....

He just isn't that good.... decidedly very average. Can't focus for a full season, flat track bully.

Good grief. Have I just read that DCL is better than Lukaku? DCL would be lucky to score as many goals as Lukaku has at 25 in his whole career.

He's a far better footballer....not just better... far better.

I guess using your logic Kevin Nolan was a better player than Roy Keane.... Keane scored nowhere near the goals that Nolan did so that's that.... forget the fact that opponents found the game far more difficult and teammates found the game so much easier when Keane played.
