Romelu Lukaku

No. It certainly means he’s better than DCL however.

I don't get this DCL thing. He works hard, but I'm just going to say it and hope I'm wrong. He's not lukkaku. Any objective person would take lukkaku as a striker over him. I want goals. I don't care about pressures that end up in nothing.

Not taking anything away from DCL. Or I don't mean to. I appreciate the work he puts in but he simply doesn't do what is most important at his position.

The move to United was supposed to be the platform he thought his talent deserved to be at. The flaws in his game were obvious to everyone, but he scored goals galore for us, so provided he delivered at the rate of say a Van Nilsterooy or an Andy Cole you could gloss over the weaknesses in his overall game. But it’s not worked out that way, the one commodity that he was supposed to bring in slotting week in week out - we can debate against what calibre of opponent another time - simply hasn’t happened with the frequency expected. Seen as a favourite of Jose, he’s behind Rashford on many levels now. He needs a team of the other ten set up to give him the service as he ain’t the greatest in bringing others into the game. I can see him leaving United.....and make no mistake, there will still be many takers provided the price is right. It’s easy to forget he was unplayable at times for us but he saw himself as outgrowing us. Size wise he has, developing to the level he aspired I’m less sure. No hard feelings from me, he did well for us and financially we did well from his sale.
Who'd you take out of Andy Cole and Romelu Lukaku, prime for prime?

Both technically suspect, both lash(ed) it in the old onion bag on the reg. We're all familiar with big Rom's glittering cv, but Cole slotted 55 in 70 at Newcastle, so was a sharp player like.

I know lukkaku could work harder, but this seems like such an English way of viewing things. I see Milner highlighted. What exactly is the point?

Lukkaku's skill set isn't to run 12km a game. Millner isn't RS best player. Lingard is good but he isn't Man U's best player. I'd take Hazard ahead of Jorginho. Eriksen is great but is he better than Alli, Kane, or Son? Snodgrass lol.

It's a skewed statistic.

And in fairness I could totally be misinterpreting your post, my bad if I am.

You seem to be pitching lukaku as a hazard, Kane, alli type player who doesn't need to work hard to make a difference..... the fact is he absolutely does. Robbie Savage wasn't a great footballer neither was Kevin Doyle or Marcus Bent.... they justified their inclusion by hard work. Lukaku is no different... he's technically awful.

A player with an awful touch, poor passing and inability to beat a man can't be included just cos he can finish from 10 yards when his team mates give it to him on a plate. He has to offer more.

When he was DCL’s age (well slightly younger) he had more goals than Messi and Ronaldo at the same ages. I like DCL and he’s had a couple of decent games but let’s not go totally apex Everton and get carried away yeah?

Ah the old age argument.... the one that is completely skewed by the fact that at 16 he was a 14 st 6ft 3 freak playing regularly for the best side in a league where the defender marking him is his local postman. That gave him a nice head start.....Where at the ssme age Messi and Ronaldo were still 9st soaking wet developing in the youth team for proper teams in proper leagues.

Tell me.... from the age of 21 till now.... how to the 3 compare??? Well don't bother I know the answer.

I don't think it's that you don't care about things like pressing .... you just don't understand them.

At the age of 10 or 11 I would have thought lukaku was the best player in the world until I learned to understand it....

Tell me.... why does Klopp play firminho ahead of Sturridge? Sturridge scores way more goals....

Cole by a mile.. he had great control and could finish in big games. Take the goal against spurs to clinch the league. His movement was top notch too.

Yes but he’s better than DCL and it is ludicrous to suggest he isn’t. That is my point.

I want Man City to buy Fred and that Aden Flint bloke from 'Boro. At training Pep splits his squad into groups of 3 for developing skills. So you have for instance :
Aguero, Silva, Sane
Sterling, De Bruyne, Mahrez etc

And if they bought Fred and Aden, you'd get a trio : Fred, Flint, Stones...
They could just dig up Feith Flint of Prodigy fame and set him up as part of a wall or something in training.

How is he better than DCL?

Pace - DCL
Strength - DCL shouldn't be but it is
Control - DCL
Heading - DCL
Aerial ability- DCL
Finishing - Lukaku
Hold up play - DCL
Skill - DCL
Decision making - draw
Movement - DCL

Probably the fact he’s scored hundreds more goals than DCL and has had more than a handful of good games in his entire career.

Don't know why you bother - they aren't interested in what you are saying.

In their world, Lukaku is world class whenever he scores, and when he's terrible it's everyone elses fault.
