Romelu Lukaku

As things stand where we are in our development I would have Lukaku in the team over DCL, even though I am not a big fan of Rom's overall game. That is because if we play to his strengths we should get more points at the end of the season. However the point stands that DCL holds the ball up better and keeps defenders busy. You can't pinpoint many games where Rom hasn't scored but has been a complete nightmare for the defence. He either gets in behind or he doesn't. A bit like Lineker but without being able to do it against quality opponents.

There is a case to say you could pick Rom against 13 or so teams in the league and then play DCL against the top teams (especially for the away games), where you normally create less chances and don't want to lose possession with large numbers committed.

you'd rather have a striker who scores less goals than the other striker, utter nonsense that lad.
United Rom looks a shadow of himself maybe he's put too much weight on maybe United just don't play to his strengths but WBA and Everton Lukaku was an absolute banging striker.
Glenn Murray scored 12 league goals last year, Sadio Mane scored 10. By your logic I should want Murray over Mane.

He's much the same. He scored 18 for United last year, 12 for them so far this season. That's more or less in keeping with his average with us apart from the one season where he broke 20.

I honestly don't know whether some people act daft or genuinely can't see the negative impact a poor footballing striker has on a team.....

Let's flip it on its head..... a centre half who can bring the ball out is worth £30m more than a stopper. The reason is it massively changes the shape of a team and often automatically puts his team at a 1 man advantage... Lukaku turns yard dog defenders into Franz Beckenbauer- he allows them to stroll past him with the ball... more often actually losing the ball to them.

I used to watch the amount of counter attacks we faced with lukaku in the side.... with a closer to prine Gareth Barry and McCarthy it wasn't as bad as they covered the full backs who could bomb on. But the number of times lukakus inability to keep the ball left us exposed was a joke. As time went on no midfielders or wide players could push forward with any confidence when Rom had the ball.

So... for the extra 5 or 6 goals he provides (usually pointless goals or against cannon fodder) I'll pass on Rom thanks. I'll happily watch the likes of Gylfi, Richarlison and co share the spoils of DCL's superb work.

If he actually started putting himself about and using his physicality to it's best effect he has the potencial to be a top striker,he's a good finisher, but it appears that his head sometimes isn't in the game.

loved to grab the third in a 3-1 win like
But quite a few came at important times in the game, like getting the third when your under the cosh at 2-1,Looking at the stats his 4 goals in the 6-3 home game against Bournemouth don't look that important, but the last 2 in the context of the game were vital.

That's a two goal difference, You said you would take 10 goal DCL over 20 goal striker which is just baffling why you want a center forward with less goals because "he closes as part of a team" and "selfless"

Because it's a team game, not 10 v 11 when we don't have the ball. We finished 11th twice with this lad scoring goals because we couldnt defend or keep possession because it broke down at him. As the saying goes, "defending starts from the front". Not with Rom it doesn't. I want a team, not 10 team mates and a goal hanger.

DCL might get better, but Rom's not going to change. Until a 3rd option comes along this is it.

Lack of heart on a football pitch isn't something that can be fixed - It's him as a person.... he's a deceiver, a self serving egomaniac who will only respond to a fire being lit under his arse by a manager tolerant enough to have to repeatedly tolerate his cyclical behaviour/attitude.

He is a big coward with no real desire to do the best for his teammates or fans.... get a player to stick an elbow on him, knee him in the thigh and let him know he's not getting an easy ride and he disappears..... does not want to know. Compare him to a Tim Cahill, Naismith or yeah DCL..... the bigger the name the more they relished the challenge. John Terry told the media his son loved Naismith and Terry understood why...

Can anyone tell me the names of any top centre halves Lukaku has dominated?
