Ronald Koeman discussion

Getting very boring, hearing the same rubbish trotted out about Martinez as a means to attack Koeman.

Martinez got given a squad regularly in the top 6/7 some of whom had finished 4th.
And in two years managed to turn them into a bottom half of the premier league squad. Amazing management skills.
What he managed to do in his first season owes more to Moyes than it does to him.
HIS SQUAD, that he built and trained and prepared created a team that could barely win at home and an atmosphere that was so toxic, home and away, that he had to be removed.

Koeman got given a squad who were in the bottom half, twice, and has managed to get them to be 7th at the mid point of the season. I'd say that was progress.

And before anyone goes whining or whinging about this not being the Martinez thread......don't keep bringing up "record points" rubbish and not expect that to be demoloished. Any credit that was gained in his first season was more then wiped out by what happened in the rest of his time here. Thank god for Moshiri because without him we would probably be below Hull in the table playing crab football under Martinez.
My god !?!

Why didn't he start with the same team that started against Leicester, except for Davies in for Barry? Strange team selection which cost us in my opinion

Got his tactics wrong tonight. Barry and Jagielka is asking for trouble.

Played the kids and that's good to see. Calvert-Lewin hits the target (which he should have) and we're talking differently.

Needs to learn from this. Just hope he does.

I can understand changing things because of the amount of games, just wish Koeman would stop swapping the centre - halfs though, just pick one to play alongside Williams and stick with that decision.

Still support the manager for the long haul..... it will not be a quick fix .....but I'll evaluate next season.
That sub of Mori for Mirralas after we equqlized tho' ????? Awful choice IMO

Genuinely all I wish for is for our deadwood to be comprehensively binned off and replaced, everyone from the latter Moyes era who are finished (bar Coleman), and the shambolic Martinez era who are just gash (bar Lukaku). Just give us a completely fresh start, we're in dire need.

That's the problem, we shouldn't have been having to come back from being behind twice (if you know what I mean) against the team who sit bottom of the league, low on confidence, crap.

We were crap. He got his tactics wrong in that he played Barry and Jagielka. They aren't good enough. They can't play how he wants us to play.

It was never a free-kick for the second, but Baines shouldn't have made that mistake of giving the worst ref in the league a decision to make. Robles made a meal of the free-kick and showed why he will never be a good keeper.

We created more chances today than we have in the last three games combined, that bit isn't wrong.

We'd have won it had Lewin headed it straight. But it happens.

But, Koeman needs to get it right next time out. Barry, not good enough. Jags, not good enough - even though he didn't have his worst game.

Davies can't do much more to deserve a start, and we look better with two forwards.

To be fair, we've only won 3 times in nearly four months, so I don't know how you're keeping score in that one.

well it's easy to spot when you go quiet mate.

C'mon, you're a good blue. But it's good to talk positive with you.

Koeman got it wrong today, for the first time in a while actually. The players didn't perform but that was a result of poor team selection.

It happens. We move on. He hasn't had enough time, yet.

He was trying to make that sub before the Snodgrass goal to switch the backline to a 3 to help Baines and Coleman push on more from an attacking sense

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Didn't just take it over mate, he improved it. Koeman has come in and kept a mediocre performing team mediocre.

League position says he has improved it. Thats all that matters.

I'm fairly confident that come the end of the season we will finish higher than 11th and accumulate more than 49 points. If he does that, he has improved on Martinez's past two seasons.

You don't compare Martinez's league position in 2013/4 to that of Moyes in 2004/5. I see that as logical, as you look at what he inherited.

It's funny that you only want to compare Martinez on points totals. On your logic AVB is Spur's most successful manager in the Premier League era. His achievements surpass Redknapp and Pochettino who both got spurs into the Champions League. I don't think many experts see it that way.

We are Evertonians not Geordies. Football isn't the opera, we want to be entertained but most of all we want to win.

Whilst we didn't win tonight, I am confident that we will win more this season than last. I'm actually looking forward going to Goodison on Monday because I think we might win. I lost that feeling last year, as did thirty odd thousand other blues.
