Ronald Koeman discussion

Oh great, the nostalgia files out again.

Koeman is here now. Let's focus on this manager.

Going well isn't it? Three wins in 15 games.

I'll not dig up historic counter points if you don't dig up historic points tallies? Deal?

Anyway on Koeman, needs to do more and pick a settled defence. But ultimately the squad needs gutted and he needs financial backing. Otherwise we are going nowhere fast.

Getting very boring, hearing the same rubbish trotted out about Martinez as a means to attack Koeman.

Martinez got given a squad regularly in the top 6/7 some of whom had finished 4th.
And in two years managed to turn them into a bottom half of the premier league squad. Amazing management skills.
What he managed to do in his first season owes more to Moyes than it does to him.
HIS SQUAD, that he built and trained and prepared created a team that could barely win at home and an atmosphere that was so toxic, home and away, that he had to be removed.

Koeman got given a squad who were in the bottom half, twice, and has managed to get them to be 7th at the mid point of the season. I'd say that was progress.

And before anyone goes whining or whinging about this not being the Martinez thread......don't keep bringing up "record points" rubbish and not expect that to be demoloished. Any credit that was gained in his first season was more then wiped out by what happened in the rest of his time here. Thank god for Moshiri because without him we would probably be below Hull in the table playing crab football under Martinez.

Ditto on people using Martinez to give Koeman a get out of jail card. Martinez was rightly sacked, and is history now.

He's come in after 6 months and called out all the utter shitters we've acquired in this squad in the past 5 years and said they need replacing, and meanwhile actually has us 7th with this abject bunch of misfits that no one else in the league would have. I'm made up with him me.

League position says he has improved it. Thats all that matters.

I'm fairly confident that come the end of the season we will finish higher than 11th and accumulate more than 49 points. If he does that, he has improved on Martinez's past two seasons.

You don't compare Martinez's league position in 2013/4 to that of Moyes in 2004/5. I see that as logical, as you look at what he inherited.

It's funny that you only want to compare Martinez on points totals. On your logic AVB is Spur's most successful manager in the Premier League era. His achievements surpass Redknapp and Pochettino who both got spurs into the Champions League. I don't think many experts see it that way.

We are Evertonians not Geordies. Football isn't the opera, we want to be entertained but most of all we want to win.

Whilst we didn't win tonight, I am confident that we will win more this season than last. I'm actually looking forward going to Goodison on Monday because I think we might win. I lost that feeling last year, as did thirty odd thousand other blues.
He's here apparently to move us beyond what Martinez achieved. Well I see a manager who is as good as Martinez's worst period here.

He has failed so far. We are mediocre and he needs to make credible purchases in January to make things a lot better. I have my doubts he'll make those signings.

This all day

did we lose or something?

i ask because in the game i watched we got a point away from home against a battling Hull side who gave Man City a game a few days ago.

seen much worse from us a few months ago. we are in transition and improving. the window is almost open.

some people need to chill out a bit.

I can't wait until this pathetic squad of losers no longer represent Everton mate. I honestly struggle to get behind them, cheering our goals tonight was an endeavour. Thank god Koeman knows we need rid of them.

ive just got back and thought we did ok, enjoyed the game, some of the crying all over the internet when we dont win is embarrassing, We dont have a god given right to win every game and its going to take time. my own expectations were too high from the moment Moshiri arrived largely because of listening to rubbish spouted by people like Esk. realistically we are miles away from the 6 teams above us and i dont see that changing. enjoy the odd win don't get too hysterical when we lose and just go the match,we are where we probably should be in the league and it unlikely to get much better.

Mid-season report for Ronald Koeman

Overall mark : Satisfactory

General Comments
: Ronald definitely has room for improvement but, given the players at his disposal he's probably doing pretty much as could be expected

Expectations for rest of season : To maintain or improve the club's current league position and finish in the top eight

Expectations for next season : To build on what is hopefully a solid base and aim for a top six position and ( possibly ) be competitive for the Champions League places

What he needs for the above : Backing from the board and a little more common sense from the fanbase who shouldn't panic every time the team drop points against so called lesser opposition.

Next Report Due
: Mid May

Signed : Woolster - Director of traffic

and as for these hoofball shouts - agenda driven nonsense.

we passed it about tonight for the majority of the game. too often though without penetration, which is a hangover from the previous regime. the football will improve when bettet players come in.

Just reminded me there, the missus said she'll stay awake until I go up to bed.
