Ronald Koeman discussion

They were unbeaten in the first five games. At that point they still had a bit of confidence left to get on the ball and play it to feet rather than hump it long. Since Koeman got his teeth into them they are now seemingly instructed to play safe at all times. That's where any imbalance comes from. These players can play. All that was required from martinez's successor was that they sort out the back four.

It really wasn't though. Did you not watch the end of last season? The team was spent in every sense of the word.

The forward play was absolutely dismal together with clown like defending. Battered by Liverpool, Leicester and Sunderland. Toothless in attack against Watford, Palace, United and Arsenal.

The football was as bad as it is now, at least we're picking up results on the way though.

No ,the idea of competing in a league is to finish as high as you can . It's how you are judged at the end of a season, by the position you acheive. Higher up the table you are the better team you are, the lower ,the worse. It's a simple system really.
Yes. But 7th is nothing. It really is nothing.

Prior to the season starting I expected a relegation fight, with up to 7 or 8 players needed replacing, I have seen no reason to think that we still need 7 new signings.
However, I believe RK is doing his best with basically a poor team, and feel he now knows which players he wants from the squad he inherited which in my opinion will not be many.
Like some others on here, I follow the youth teams closely and I am pleased he has brought into the squad and in fact including 3 of them on regular basis on match day.
We have 4 more Gallaway, Kenny, Walsh and Browning who could make a breakthrough next season.
Usually, I am against too much money being spent on a January window, however, this window is vital to bring in and ship out.
The ship out column is a big one and will take two windows to achieve.
I am surprised that the names mentioned on a regular basis ones that I would agree with, Looman looks a real talent and 10 million will seem very cheap next season, Depay is worth a slight risk while Schneiderlinn would be a perfect fit while for no money Berehino would be a good risk.
We should have signed Keane before Burnley.
I feel we have a bright future both on and off the pitch.

Towards the end the forward players dropped off because they were exasperated by having to score about three in every game to get a result of some description. We had/have a fine attacking unit. This muppet just cant use them.

We played ridiculous gung ho football and for a period of the season scored lots of goals because of it.

You can't play like that, you lose games. People get annoyed and managers lose their jobs.

13 teams may as well pack up and go home then because barring some huge upsets the top 6 isn't changing any time soon.
...which is why a new manager was brought in.

He's apparently a 'great' manager...and certainly gets the wages of any great manager in European football. All we've had so far though is safe, boring, up and under "football".

His first season here so far has been shocking and only some freak circumstance whereby 27 points gets you 7th place has covered his arse on it.
