The trouble is that only about four of those players are regular first teamers. Some are youngsters bought for the future, some are squad players whom we don't really need, and some are complete failures *looks @ Valencia & Niasse*. The core of the team is made up of players whom we had 2 - 3 years ago - Coleman, Jagielka, Baines, Barry, Mirallas, Lukaku.

If they were all fit, I would be surprised to see us play a game without 7 of them getting on the pitch.

As I said, I'm not disputing that some of them aren't good enough, but it's just not true to say we haven't changed the squad. Of course many of our players have remained the same, that's totally normal. 3 years ago Liverpool were still playing coutinho, Lucas, Henderson, Sturridge etc. West Ham were mentioned, but how long have they had Adrian, Collins, Reid, noble and the like? Teams don't generally change beyond recognition in 3 or 4 years, ours is no different to anyone else's.

it is still some coup that he was able to convince him to join us in the first place
