Ronald Koeman discussion

A win is a win and I don,t care how we get the 3pts given our priority should be to get to 40pts asap.

Mind you his quote after the match to MOD should have the transfer heads a bit worried.

"I am busy with all the fixtures we have and maybe the board will be busy to bring the players in."
What's wrong with that?

A team has also to prepare and train for opponents and two days less is a massive ask to do quick turnaround preparations.

Question: would you have liked us to have been the team playing it's third game today over the last 6 days, or would you have preferred we were the team that had the 8 days schedule?

That's 48 hours resting up and preparation time more that we had. Do you really think that wouldn't have a huge part to play in the result?
Dave, is it not possibly good management that Koeman realised Southampton would tire towards the end of the game. He started with 2 youngsters to run them ragged early doors and then changed it round in the last 20 mins to take advantage of their weiry legs. Just a thought, Bloody good management if he did

Why was he your pick? Do you feel you were wrong in your original assessment?

I also fancied Koeman as his replacement. Got to say my faith wavered recently - team selection vs Hull - but in the main I still think he's the man for the job.
He was my pick because I thought we could use a huge dose of pragmatism to sort out the defence and someone who could get rid of players who disgracefully downed tools and tanked games for this club...something they should have been placed on the transfer list for.

The reality however has been that no such pragmatism has arrived with him. He hasn't adapted the players he has here and he's forever bleating about buying a new team. The defence is stil hopeless and vulnerable and the standard of football (shockingly because I never expected anything of the sort) is ale house class. He's also rewarded players who last season stabbed us in the back and has pacified them with a lot of game time - possibly in an effort to get them onside. Baines for one should be nowhere near this football club, never mind a first team starting place.

Is it a mistake to have wanted him? Yes. I think this is as good as it's ever going to get with Koeman. Regardless of spending more cash the method is there and won't change and it won't ever elevate us into contenders. I truly wish we'd made Fabien Favre our manager. We may have missed out on a manager that could have transformed us.

It seems there's a few who's sole purpose on the forum appears to be to follow dave around arguing every single opinion he has or getting in sly digs against him with every post they make. Just my opinion of course.
