Ronald Koeman discussion

Still not entirely sure what he's trying to do on a game by game basis, but fair's fair, things have massively picked up over the past few weeks.

Hopefully January will see some new recruits and a move towards a more specific (and more pleasing on the eye) style of play. Can't knock 7th at the turn of the year, and if we stay in this position I'll be relatively pleased with the seasons work.

Win games?

Just because we aren't doing that ridiculous passing game anymore (which didn't suit us), doesn't mean they aren't trying things on the training ground. How bad our wide attacking players have been this year has really affected how we can hurt the opposition.

Well yes I would certainly hope that's the case. Otherwise we're all kind of wasting our time aren't we? Of course it would be great if he'd managed to do it more than 4 times in 15 games but ok, thatsh football.

I meant it in a little bit more of a tactical sense like, but nevermind, i know analysis isn't for everyone and some people just see the basics.

I think we can be bogged down with over analysis though. After the top 6 we're all battling to finish wherever we can and at the moment we're the best of the rest.

I know Liverpool press and that City/Arsenal play a passing game, but could I tell you how teams outside of the top 6 play? Probably not. It varies from game to game depending on circumstances.

Turn what in? I was genuinely being positive, just wasn't sure why someone was being sarky so pointing out that we haven't exactly been brilliant recently.

I'm honest and fair (unlike many on here). I've knocked Koeman this season but I'm acknowledging that there have been positive signs recently and crediting him for it. I still don't think we've nailed it yet but I'm hoping we carry on on this upward curve. Maybe you'd be happier if I lurched from saying we're going to win the league to saying we're useless like many do, but I'm quite happy with my own way of looking at things cheers.

I agree with that and as I said above I'm not knocking Koeman, I'm actually admitting I may have been harsh and saying well done on recent performances. I'd still like to see us develop a plan though, as I'm pretty sure he would himself. Our results have been up and down, all I'm saying is I hope we've seen the worst and the best is yet to come. Don't think it's a particularly controversial viewpoint.

Fair enough, mate. I think the plans will always change from game to game with us. We're just not good enough to go into the game regardless of the opposition and play our way. Not many teams are.

At the moment we're grinding out results by someway or another. I think that's what most teams in the league are doing as well. Hopefully come the season end we'll have a bit more free flowing football to enjoy.

Just thought it a bit strange that you mentioned winning 4 of 15 when we've won 8 of 20, that's only reason I quoted it.

It is what it is there is plenty of room for improvement but we've now won 3 of the last 5 losing only once and beating a side in the top 4 so hopefully that slump in form is over.

A bit of talk about Davek being a victim of internet bullying.I like Davek a lot and in general he is one of my favourite posters here. But for me i find his views expressed both on the old Roberto Martinez thread and this one to be a bit crazy and ridiculous. So i think as a consequence of that he draws the ire of posters on here. It's very obvious that he is still throwing his toys out of the pram over Martinez getting kicked out which is the main reason behind his persistent anti Koeman agenda! To be honest i find it more hilarious than infuriating.I honestly don't think Davek is a victim of nasty attention from certain individuals on here.If he is though then i have no doubt that he is well able to handle himself. This place would be boring as hell if we all had the same opinions. So for that reason alone there is a place for Daveks views and opinions.

Apart from the second half in the derby and the Hull game it's been a pretty decent christmas period.Southampton ended last season in much better shape than us.Yet were now 6 points ahead of them. That's pretty impressive on Koemans part imo. There's still plenty to work on but i think Koeman has done a lot of things right as well during the first few months of his reign.
