Ronald Koeman discussion

School him Mikey!!!

Schooling wouldn't help mate

He's proven once again that he only backs the youth when it suits him

Koeman has given some lads a chance in the past few weeks, so he doesn't deserve any real stick on that front. Yes, it might not be a long term thing depending on potential January signings, and it will certainly be under review for the rest of the season from us who want to see the kids get more of a chance, but he's picked some of the better younger players in the squad and given them some minutes

He deserves credit for it, but Zat is so busy with his anti-Koeman agenda that he won't let him have that credit, even though he's done exactly what a lot of us have asked. Starting Davies and giving him a whole 90 minutes was a brave move, but he did it because he trusted him

But no, let's ignore the possibility that creating an environment where Koeman is praised for playing younger players might in turn be conducive to him giving more of them a chance, and let's just create a scenario where he can never win no matter what he does

Everton That

Huh?

He has 3 positions to fill and goes for Barkley, Gueye and Davies...

Who else was he going to play there?

Clev,Gibson, barry

What Jags said, there were other options for Koeman there

He could have started Barry or Clev for instance and brought Davies on as a sub again, or given Cleverley a whole 90 minutes in order to use the match as a shop window, or to give him a chance to rehabilitate himself

But no, he rewarded Davies and gave him a full 90 minutes

He did what we've been asking for, so he deserves nothing but credit for it, and I'm hardly front of the Koeman fan club, but I'll call a spade a spade

@Mikey_Fitzgerald

Clev was booed off last time
Gibson cant get in the u23s
Barry played last time and cant play so soon

There were no other options.

I'll applaud him when he plays Holgate/Davies consistently, not just giving them a game when theres no other choices.

There were other choices mate, choices that other managers would have gone with

There's nothing wrong with a young player gradually working his way in to the set up

In fact, I'd argue that it's preferable

If Koeman drops him without trace in the near future, then I'll obviously call him on it, but right now it seems like he's rewarding young players who play well (Davies) and isn't punishing then either if they have a less than great outing (DCL)

That already puts him above other managers, who would have almost surely gone for Cleverley in the same scenario

Even I was shocked to see Davies start and do a full 90, because I didn't think it was on the cards, but Koeman proved me wrong yesterday, and good on him for doing so

If you're going to spout on about backing the kids, then actually back them

They are not tools for you to use in your war against Koeman, and I will fight you every single time you try to make them so

@Zatara

Are you really spending months talking about all these boss youth players that you personally watch and are all good enough to make the team and now criticising the manager for playing them?

bit of hypocrisy there, why big the young players up if you are going to bash the manager for playing them? He didn't need to play Davies, he did. So either the worst manager in the world (in your opinion) is doing something positive and you can't handle that or they aren't as good as you say you think they are.

Pick an argument and stick to it.

Can you show me a post of mine where i havent backed Tom Davies please?

*Clue: There isnt one.

Dunno what youre on about tbh.

Davies should have been playing ahead of Barry for ages now.

Holgate was dropped for no reason twice.

DCL is a weird one...come on as a sub and doesnt do much yet is ahead or Deulofeu, Lennon, Mirallas and Valencia it seems...

Davies should now keep his place...he has a chance as Gueye is off. History with holgate shows us he would be dropped if Gueye was available.

Can you add the quote where i slated the manager for playing Davies?

You know, the posts which support your posts?

The lads at valencia were dropped from the squad with zero discussion, one being club captain and another being a veteran but still a star player for them...the football was akin to what we are seeing now at Everton...with results like 3 odd wins in 16 games (deja-vu) and no wins in 10 (i think) 12 or so months ago at southampton.

In short, he did everything wrong there and those players you are dismissive of were returned to the team after he was sacked and they finished out of relegation 13th/15th i believe.

Also, what is this 3 titles in 4 seasons?

Why are you still banging on about what he did at Valencia mate? nobody cares. Stop labouring the point to the point of absolute tedium.

Apart from the fact that not many managers have a flawless record, also the point that they learn from their mistakes, its pointless going over and over it as nobody here even cares except you.
