Ronald Koeman discussion

He is pro-Koeman now is he? Why did he keep calling Koeman a man-baby?

I think I might lay my cards out on the table early here. Koeman OUT

He hasn't a clue what he's doing, a patchy management record at best and, most unforgivably, looks like a man-baby.

I'm not a big fan of Koeman's, and I found his appointment to be uninspiring (I still do).

I do not like Ronald Koeman. I didn't and don't think he's the right manager for us and, worst of all, he has the head of a baby...My bet is that Ronald won't work out and will leave us in a fairly mid-table mediocrity. My deep, deep hope is that my complete ignorance of football is leading me to this conclusion and that I will be proven spectacularly wrong. Give the man-baby time.

...I don't rate Koeman if I'm honest...

That's al we wanted. Some bite rather than all bark

Just came across an interesting fact which I posted in the Youth thread but it also seems appropriate here given past discussions on Koeman and playing youngsters. - Everton are the first team to start two teenagers in a Premier League game this season (Tom Davies & Dominic Calvert-Lewin).

There is no way Koeman has what it takes to get us into the places both Moyes and Martinez had us and keep us there.

The measure of Koeman will always be how close he can get us to top four, and I cant see - regardless of new personnel - the way he serves up his football (and his very streaky career runs so far with other clubs) as pointing in any direction than way off the pace of a top four berth.

It seems though that the bar has been lowered for most so that now three seasons of 7th will be deemed a success.

Not one person has said 3 years of 7th will be a success. Once again, you're twisting things to suit your own obvious agenda.

Undeniably, 7th would be clear progress this season and hopefully even a return to Europe. If he manages that whilst still moulding the squad then he has done a good job. But next year, like all of us, i'd expect us to be much more serious challengers at the top end of the league.

I've been saying it from the start, this is going to take time

I always thought it would be difficult for him to crack the top 6 this season. This season IMO was about stabilising us after two very poor league campaigns and getting us ready again for a proper challenge in 17/18

I'll accept a top half finish and a cup run this season, provided it leads to better the next season

Underwhelming though it is, it would at least be better than the previous two seasons and would represent a step in the right direction

It's the voices in his head mate.

7th would obviously be a clear progression on the 2 dismal previous seasons. After that he would be expected to have us pushing for CL places and for the money he is being paid would be judged on that, once he has assembled his own squad of course.

Very difficult. Man United spent hundreds of millions, got one of the best managers in the world in, have just put together 6 back to back wins over christmas, and are still only in 6th.

Every one of those 6 teams above us have been outspending us for a generation, and have comprehensively better squads and infrastructure. It's a difficult bridge to gap but we are going in the right direction under Moshiri, Walsh and Koeman i'm sure.

His brother looked freezing yesterday -

I think I've figured it out. He only wants youth in when they aren't replacing another young player. DCL is a no, because he's a replacement for Lukaku, who isn't old enough for Zat to consider useless yet, even though Lukaku is useless. Holgate and Davies are yeses, because they replace Coleman and Barry respectively who, in Zat's mind, are proportionally useless in relation to how many rings they have in the trunk.

One of the reasons that he doesn't rate DCL is because DCL probably doesn't feature yet on those FIFA Manager games that he uses to try and impress us all with his self proclaimed expertise on all things football!

After my doom and gloom post Watford, Everton are looking a much better proposition. Credit to Koamen and his team, its looking like the fitness and directness is now coming to furore and those dark end of days tippy toe football have finally been banished.
