Ronald Koeman discussion

TBF you're suggestion that we played the free flowing football is equally outrageous, so it's a tad hypocritical to call him out.
Evertone in football (including our Sky critics like Merson etc) credited Martinez's Everton with creative football. Lets not try and rewrite history.

From top to bottom it smacks of mediocrity.

We have a mediocre owner, mediocre chairman, mediocre manager and mediocre players apart from Lukaku who will be off in the summer if he has any ambition whatsoever.

The club is in a mess and it will cost a fortune to sort it our and even then, this doesn't guarantee success. Man U have spent billions since Ferguson retired and only now do they look the real deal.

Anyone that thinks Koeman will win us major trophies are deluding themselves. He is tier 3 of management, whilst the likes of Ancelotti, Pep and Mourinho are tier 1.

And do you honestly believe RK would be here if he was tier 1 anyway? Would you go to Everton and work with BK and the fake Mosh when you could go to Man U or City where their owners actually put money where their mouth is?

Do one Ev. Another ruined weekend cheers.
Do us all a favour Derek and foxtrot oscar you mind numbing blert

Don't expect miracles at this stage but expected to see a clear improvement over Martinez by now.
More points on the board (same position), a run in at least one of the cups and signs of an emerging style of play from motivated players would have been nice.
He still has until the end of the season though for me.

We were 11th after 20 games last season. Under Koeman we're 7th. The latter has only had half a transfer window which the club utterly ballsed up. Martinez had four windows to get us 11th after half a season.

If you look up the table at the six sides above us, do you think we have the squad to compete with them ?

I am as dissappointed as every body else,However Leicester are the current league champions and are in the last . 16 of the champions league. We on the other hand are a team who have just finished in the bottom half of the league on 2 consecutive occasions with an ageing squad of limited ability. We have not got a God given right to expect to win today, and this will continue until Ronald has had time to rebuild the shambles he was left. I respect most people's opinions but yours with a pinch of salt, its almost 12 months to the day that you predicted that leicester would fall away dramatically from the top of the Prem, the rest is history, 72 points and some
Oh come off it mate! We are 7th and Leicester are scrapping against falling into the relegation zone.

They were shorn of their best two players and they went and beat us at home.

That result and performance was an utter 'kin disgrace.

Anyone giving Koeman grief wind your neck in. What manager in the world is gonna win things with these utter frauds we have.

It's not fun, it's very frustrating, but Koeman is not the problem. Koeman is the answer to the problem.

The board need to back him and the fans need to back him as he starts culling the overpaid, pathetic deadwood.

This is the only post needed in this whole thread. If you don't understand this, you are completely missing the point of why we need Koeman as the manager.

I really don't rate him. Just to clarify, I think we were right to sack Martinez and, with the exception of a genuinely exciting first season, his tenure here should be considered a failure. I just think it would be misguided to keep blaming Martinez until Koeman gets it right. He may never do and all that does is blind us to Koeman's legitimate shortcomings as a manager. We have the guts of a good team, just no guts, and it will take 2 or 3 players with quality and character in key positions to amend that.
You answered your own question with your suggestion of the path forward.

These players have had the smoke blown up thier arse for 36 months. They think they're better than they are, the determination has been beaten out of them. We need new players, that's for sure. But professionalism and character are key. Read Gareth Barry's quotes from earlier in the season, it shows you, us and we how far the levels had dropped.
