Ronald Koeman discussion

Mind numbing football? Lol. It may have been a grind when teams sat deep like the cowards they are, but I doubt Martinez will ever be associated with dull football by anyone in the football world other than a bitter core of Evertonians who now have egg on their faces having seen another manager come in and fall on his arse with the most embarrassing bunch of hoofball seen at GP since Smith and Moyes were killing pigeons on an industrial scale.

Martinez will always be associated with dull football to me and most Everton fans I know, because we had to sit at Goodison watching the team pass sideways for 90 minutes and come away with 1 shot on target and 0 points. A horrible team to endure watching for 90 minutes, I could've drifted into a coma during some of those matches.

Anyway, in your typical style, you swerved my question - why is it that under Martinez the players were to blame and under Koeman the manager is to blame?

Anyone giving Koeman grief wind your neck in. What manager in the world is gonna win things with these utter frauds we have.

It's not fun, it's very frustrating, but Koeman is not the problem. Koeman is the answer to the problem.

The board need to back him and the fans need to back him as he starts culling the overpaid, pathetic deadwood.
I don't think it's the fact that we are losing. Personally I can accept that in his first season for the reasons you say.

What's not acceptable is the lack of identity we are watching week in, week out.

What is he telling them to do? Not off the ball, on it.

I hope he is telling them they are all gutless wastes of space who will be gone at the first opportunity, and won't have many offers coming their way either as they are friggin awful.

Evertone in football (including our Sky critics like Merson etc) credited Martinez's Everton with creative football. Lets not try and rewrite history.
No they didn't, they found our games entertaining. There is a difference.

Oh and some of your thoughts on Merson for good measure.

"Brain dead"

You answered your own question with your suggestion of the path forward.

Tbh, I lost track of the point I originally intended to make. Regardless of the rather poor state of our squad, Koeman should not be falling down at the first hurdle in both our best chances of silverware (however remote those chances are). He's had a very bad start imo, and I think fans will want to see evidence of improvement and a coherent plan sooner than he might have anticipated

Some are still stuck with the sentimental mentality. Scared of change.

If you want rewards, you have to take a plunge, take risks. And more importantly, there are going to be hurdles. Defending players that have done nothing to push us on. Past is the past and it got us nowhere.

It started with Moshiri. It continued with Koeman and Walsh. It will flourish with the players, when we get ones who want to fight for our new ambition. Risk takers. Personnel that want to win and won't settle for mediocrity because it's comfortable.
