When the team was announced I thought it was a back three and wing backs, but it was definitely a back four.
Holgate played as right back and Coleman was playing in front of him.
Barry is the issue but, we had no other decent option yesterday.
Anyone questioning why we're off for Schneiderlin is deluded if they think we're gonna do anything with Barry starting games.
His role now has to be coming on in the final 10 minutes, or going off after 55/60 in the odd game he does start.
(I'm not entirely blaming Barry btw, but it's just an example in a key area of the pitch).
We're not doing it every week, that's the differenceWe aren't keystone cops bad but just yesterday we were defeated from a goal up in three minutes of defensive ineptitude?
What am I missing here?
I'm pretty sure everyone said last season " A decent manager would have this squad of players challenging for a top four finish "
?You sure Holgate was playing right of the three
?
Not sure what you mean, but holgate looked to be playing like a traditional right back with Colman in front of him, often tucked in like Lennon does when playing in front of Colman.
This is true. Yet he has tried all those players be it a pre-season friendly or proper match. They have had the chances and now Koeman is in a much better position to evaluate and know who he doesn't want and who needs replacing. The summer was poor because of the timing of Koeman and then Walsh hiring. The summer was wasted basically as he had to evaluate in too short a period. Now time has gone by he knows the inconsistencies, strengths and weaknesses of all the players to be able to take action this January and in the summer. Then and only then time will start going against him rightly so to deliver.
Then those people really had no idea what they were talking about. There's not 1 manager in the world who would compete with top 4 with this squad.
I agree, some people thought Koeman would wave a magic wand and we would be top four.
But why can't he believe it? I mean, I can not only believe it, but understand it as well. They will, moshiri said hes prioritising the league and failure to make in roads will see questions asked. But that squad is pyar gash and needs overhauling massively.
Even koeman said they brought it on themselves and couldn't believe how deep they fell back. That stinks of "this how we've done it in the past" attitude and proves the mentality is shot
I'm being told these players are the problem, but last season and the beginning of this season they weren't the problem at all were they? Now because Koe-moan can't get his act together some of his apologists are telling us that it IS the players to blame.
Sorry, not having that.
Pity Der Ronald didn't take advantage of getting his broad 4rse up the M6 a little earlier, rather than swanning around on his extended holidays
I meant was he playing on the right of three CB's so he drifted over to cover at RB
Missed the game tbh so was just wondering
But why can't he believe it? I mean, I can not only believe it, but understand it as well.
We dropped deep because they had a very quick striker and our centre halves (one of which he bought for a decent fee) lack pace and were visibly terrified of being caught up the pitch. Add to this the fact that our midfield anchor (who he has just given a new contract to and could have replaced during the game but didn't) is possibly the slowest player in the league and lacks the engine to get up and down the pitch for 90 minutes, and it seems pretty obvious why they dropped deep.
They couldn't follow Koeman's game plan, so I understand why he's not happy. Clearly some of the blame is on the players here, maybe some of it is on the board too if they've made a mess of transfers, but a fair portion of it is on Koeman too, and I'm not sure why some people are so determined that he be given a free pass.
