"Leighton Baines apologised to Roberto Martinez for admitting Everton have lacked 'chemistry'... but why should he say sorry for telling the truth about his team?"
...yeah, after three solid season of shielding those players from outside criticism.

Baines: never forgotten what he did and it'll never be forgiven. Clocked off and tanked games in a blue shirt to get his own way.

So we're going to have to settle for a route one game and hand this manager a free pass to hand in excuse after excuse until some indefinite point in the future when he finds his feet?

What a future.
Well actually, no.

I think martinez's problem was he tried to enforce a style of football onto a group of players who were not capable. I think Koeman appreciates the limitations of the players and sets up accordingly (not unlike moyes).

I think you will see more expansive football as we improve the playing squad. Style and the tactics that are successful at any given period are dependent on lots of different factors both internal to the club and external.

I think that was the previous manager's biggest flaw. His dogmatic approach failed to appreciate that there were styles of play that could counter his chosen methodology and he failed to adapt.

Made the same point a while ago, I don't think this is all down to the players and the manager has to accept the major responsibility for what we've witnessed. Yes the squad's a year older and some players are looking worse for wear (Jagielka and Barry), but we should be playing a hell of a lot better. The football has been pretty poor.
Spot on mate. Others seem to be clinging to some belief they backed a winner in Koeman. Well I backed him too but I can see that if he's going to be a success he has to do pretty much the opposite of what he's done so far here.

All this stuff about the top 6 being too strong as an excuse for our season being over is completely irrelevant. If that was the case (which I don't fully buy) then Koeman should have assessed his squad before the season started, realised that the top 6 was beyond this group of players, then prioritised the cups above everything else. Instead we've had the same line pedalled all season that getting back to 7th is the aim of the season. No it's not Ronald, winning stuff is and you've failed to even attempt that in your first season. Anyone wanting to argue that Everton shouldn't aim to win stuff have at it. I don't care how poor the squad is or isn't, you always give it a go, we haven't turned up in any competition this season.

Baines spent over two years trying to get Martinez to work on the defence. Martinez didn't want to know and refused to discuss it. The players lost all confidence in him. If you're losing someone like Baines then you've got managerial issues in my opinion.

I'm pretty sure everyone said last season " A decent manager would have this squad of players challenging for a top four finish "

Roll on a year and they now turn on the players, you couldn't make it up.

Koeman deserves time but he is not winning me over at the minute.
It's incredible that a view has been able to develop in the last six months that the squad that was being wasted are actually the problem for us now. It's way too convenient a flip flop.

The fact is that this squad are worthy of a top 7 place they currently have but they can play a hell of a lot better than they are and they should not be out of both cup competitions right now.

Thinking earlier how strange of him to complain about the transfer window only 7 days in, Very rare, even unheard of that a club would sign 2-3 players in the first week
Refreshing though and although I don't entirely agree, with what is now the general consensus on the Summer window, there was a little bit of talk that he was frustrated back then, so it may be reaching boiling point?

I agree. RM was an idealist and needed to be flexible. But this feller is a direct play manager. I have no faith whatsoever even with a change of personnel that the football will be either successful or decent to watch.

I think there maybe some bad blood between him and Walsh tbh, Maybe they aren't seeing eye to eye over transfer dealings

That said, Keep it in doors, He's achieved nothing yesterday imo

*our

It was a necessary evil. That's why 3000 fans chanted his name at Vicarge Rd and NOT Martinez'

Baines has an ego. He lost his place under RM to Oviedo and even Galloway and he spat his dummy out. That was at least half the problem he had with Martinez.

Now we're stuck with him for another couple of seasons.

'kin great.

Time will tell.

It would be a new tact for and Everton manager to publicly put a little pressure on the board.

I'm all for it. I can't stand Kenwright or that Worm Elstone.
