Ronald Koeman discussion

The best thing is that our first 3 goals today were actually beautifully worked, but we rely on hoofball apparently

Very happy with the progress shown over the last couple of weeks. I think we're finally starting to see the team adapting to how he wants them to play. Barkley and Lukaku are definitely improving under him, and if Mirallas can regulary play like that it will be a bonus. He's brought Davies and Holgate back into the team at the right time, and his happiness to use Lookman and Calvert-Lewin can only bode well for the future. If they're good enough they'll play. Once Schneiderlin gets up to speed and can replace Barry it will improve us immeasurably. Add to that we're looking at bringing other players in, I can see us finishing the season strongly and trying to put pressure on the clubs above us.

29% and win like that? Sorry but I'd take that every single time over needless possession nonsense. Solid defensive display and well worked goals, fine by me.

robles didn't really have anything to do. He made a save from aguero i think it was, which was going wide anyway and i think he knew that but just wanted to make sure. All that possession with over £150m spent on their attacking quartet and they didn't really bother us.

We know what our problem is: we can't hack it when teams sit back.

That's a great win today and the lad Davies must be on cloud nine and I'm made up for him. But City are one of the few teams that commit to attack in numbers. The game plan to sit back and hit on the break was sensible and paid dividends. But next week and the weeks following that we are back to facing other teams who stand off like Everton do.

He needs to show he can get this team accomplished enough to break the deadlock in those games and take all three points. We have something like 5 wins in the last 18 games. That ratio needs improving dramatically if we're to compete.
That's one of your, too infrequent, sensible posts davek.

Spot on mate but credit to the defence that never let them bother us.

So you'd agree that Martinez was rightfully relieved of his position after delivering neither in 3 years
Martinez had to go becuse he lost control of some senior players. And yes, 11th two seasons running is a sackable offence....just as a manager spending more cash than any other manager ever will need to be relieved of his duties if we don't get into Europe two seasons on the bounce.
Ronald Koeman thread lads.....

Apparently it's not sensible. It makes me a Kopite for having the audacity to make the blindingly obvious point that this team will struggle more away against a Stoke team who won't leave themselves short at the back on a suicide mission pushing up.

It's upsetting...or something.

Ive watched us go from Champions to being 1 kick of a ball away from falling out the league.

But you know what, we finally have an owner who knows what it takes to get ahead in this league, a manager that doesnt panic after a defeat and a desire to get us back where we belong. That isnt 5th, it isnt even 7th, Champions of England and maybe, Champions of Europe.

NSNO

I've never seen us win the league(just missed that) but I've seen a second half come bk from 3-0 against Wimbledon to keep us up and a Bolton goal disallowed that should have counted(when we played them)(Howard Kendell was manager that season) but kept us up on goal difference, I've seen City, Chelsea and Spurs which are all smaller then us rise above us leaving us in their wake.

Finally after 28 years(started supporting us at 7) of suffering we are finally heading back in the right direction and today showed we have a decent manager and an a fantastic owner willing to back him.

Lookmans goal...how many times over the years have we seen that happen against us.

Today wasn't just a 4-0 win, it was a statement of what's to come

That win has set us up perfectly now.

We've got a brilliant run of fixtures and if we can strengthen the right postions we'll be in touching distance of the pack for when we play against them.

Surely Ron can out-think Big Sam next week?
