21st Jan Palace A
1st Feb Stoke A
4th Feb Bournemouth H
11th Feb Middlesborough A
25th Feb Sunderland H

That's the line up until we play Spurs away. Can see frustration and dropped points in the first two and 3 wins on the bounce after that
How many times has this been said over the last few seasons only for Everton to mess it up. These are exactly the sort of games we've been poor in under Koeman. Chelsea apart, our form against the top teams has been ok.

Oh, and if anyone starts a "points by the end of February" thread I say ban him for a year. Lets just take every game as it comes and pray we get a bit more consistency going.

Enjoy yourself with your mumsnet.

The offer of forgiveness is still there Friend

Come and join us in the happy waters

All you need to do is say 'sorry', it seems the hardest word but it's not, you like me, maybe a little more than friends but it's ok, it's purely platonic in the waters here

*puts on Little Red Speedos and sings a little tune about Iron production values

Absolutely there is.

Ronny Koeman, you know he is someone we lambasted in the Autumn but ok, he has put away his putter and for his sins Indulgences have been sold (Snivelley), he is penitent, he is kind, he is in the water in a rather fetching mankini.

@hktoffee has sinned, oh how he has sinned, and maybe it is too late for him, but he can at least try, maybe send me another one of his slightly odd PMs but that's ok too, we are forgiving in the Era of Frandliness, I hope he chooses to join us

i think he needs to gargle some healing water Friend?

Your hypocrisy is showing here too. You claim to be holding judgement until you see two seasons of results, yet your entire judgement of Martinez was based on 72 pts in his 1st season. I'm not a huge Koeman fan, but you're so clearly against him that.you may as well just say it and quit acting like you're impartial in the matter. It is disigenuous.
So far, it seems your problem with Koeman is that he doesnt offer the same smooth talk about the clubs history and stature that Martinez did. This same man also called The Clev the most talented english midfielder of all time. Koeman just made public comments that were brutally honest. Its a matter of style and personality, not of managerial ability; it seems youre conflating the two.
It doesnt matter to me whether or not you like Koeman, but whatever it is please stop this sillyness of insisting you want him to succeed in on breath and in the next listing the reasons you are sure he won't. Its childish and making you look a fool.
No, I'm not giving him two seasons, I'd give him to this time next season to prove he has something to offer. No one gets a two season free pass.

My problem, as you put it, with Koeman is not over tone it's over the football being played. It's for the most part been outrageously bad. If that is addressed then there'll be less of an issue.

Personally I've seen enough to realise that we wont challenge for a CL spot with Koeman and it's clear he isn't prioritising a cup win. This season 7th will be acceptable. If that's repeated after spending a lot of money in the present window and this summer it'd be a failure not to be higher up the table next season and he'd be looking at a very unaccommodating landscape for his career here.

That's just common sense.

With his excellent tactical nous, his playing of the kids and also his good record so far against the top 6 (Chelsea away aside of course), he's really sticking 2 fingers up to the haters. Onwards and upwards, he's got this covered.

far from convinced we wont slip up badly over the next stretch of easy games either. fair enough getting fired up for city at home - but let's see how this team responds with absolutely nothing to play for. still a mercenary for me and 2 years down the line once he's gone we will wonder wtf all this was actually about.

First time we've had a full game of effort all season...21 weeks into it.

As you say, it's the Palaces and Stokes we have to be competitive against...that's when the manager earns his corn, not against a team like City when the team and crowd are naturally up for it.

lads, ask pep himself, there are no 'easy games' whatsoever in the prem. all teams need to be taken seriously and given 100% concentration.

if we perform to the level we did yesterday then we should do very well in the next few weeks.

its up to our players to deliver the consitency needed now.

My concern is Koeman's own motivational skills - which appear to be close to zero so far this season, and the state of mind of the team given that the top 6 are more or less set in stone now.
