Ronald Koeman discussion

I hate to say this but I have only been as underawed by an Everton managerial appointment once before Ronald was given the job.

And that was Howard's third coming.

Even Mike Walker and Walter had me more enthusiastic at the start of their reigns :(

Nowt Ronald has said in his thus far short tenure as EFC manager has enthused me in the slightest.

And whilst I am optimistic about our prospects in the long run under Mr. Mo, right now I am more low key about the start of a new season than I have ever been before.

:(

I hate to say it but I agree mate. Completely underwhelmed and non-enthused. Sure I'll give him a chance, but I am struggling to get up for this season.

Everton 4-0 Spurs
?

We'll be lucky to sore 4 in the whole of August mate I feel. It's the lack of changing anything going forward that annoys me this Summer.

I'll be honest with you, I'm normally optimistic and lack of signings didn't stop me thinking we'd still be ok, with a new manager etc (and the signings that would eventually arrive). Listening to RK's press conference had me thinking if it was the same players in the 1st team! Hoping that's not his team talk head or we could be up against it.

He's not supposed to make supporters feel " enthusiastic ".... He's supposed to get the team playing at its best. It won't be an overnight switch...but I think he is very clear about the path to success and communicating that to the team. I think we will be better than advertised this year and more players will be coming in......I'm sure those of you feeling down and unenthusiastic miss the days when we were " massively phenomenal " and the manager was praising our play after abysmal efforts.
We may not get 3pts tomorrow but we will be better this year!
UP THE BLUES

Agree with most of that but, it doesn't 'hinder' the team by putting out some kind of positive statement, before the 1st game of the season.
That said, I'm more than happy with the non bs approach he portrays.

That's just it. Much of the same "muchness" really.

Is he not?

So 38,000 of us should just turn up tomorrow content in the knowledge that the team is "only 70% fit" but hey, what the heck?

Enthusiasm and optimism are for every other bugger supporting every other team, but not for Evertonians.

Making the paying customers feel "enthusiastic" about the new season is not part of a new manager's remit

Seems we have gone from one extreme in Roberto to another in Big Ron.

You see Kith, one of the reasons I stuck by Bobby until the bitter end (well, the Arsenal
home game if truth be told ) was that I loved his boundless optimism and positivity.

Football to me is all about escapism.

All through my life I have never encountered a circumstance so grim, most notably the death of my parents, that was not alleviated by imagining I was scoring the winning goal for EFC in the European Cup Final.

And whilst I understand some fellows might find Ronald's lowering of expectations wrapped up as a new "honesty" to their liking, I for one do not expect, nor want, to hear my manager lament the lack of fitness in his team on the cusp of a new season.

Apart from owt else it is giving the opposition a boost.

Keep that knowledge to yourself, Ronald.

We don't need to hear it IMO.

All's you are doing is arming the opposition and de-motivating your own fans :(

At least this fan at any rate :(
